“Excellent Stay”
Reviewed May 18, 2011

Le Meridien was an excellent choice for our girls weekend in Philadelphia! We had a Princess and Tiara weekend at the hotel and it met all of our expectations! The staff couldn't have been nicer and they are very helpful and ready to answer any question you may have at any time.
The rooms are very clean, beds are super comfortable and the hotel is hip with old world charm.
We enjoyed our stay!

The room was clean and neat, bed was comfortable, location was great. But all the staff (front desk, restaurant, bar) were very cold and stressed out. Only greeting staff in the street were very helpful and cheerful. Since this building used to be YMCA building even the entrance has steep steps which makes carrying luggages very difficult. The atmosphere in the lobby very contemporary but dark and gloomy. Most of the rooms do not have windows with sunlight, you can only see the inside of the building. This was very frustrating since I was not able to see if it was rainy or sunny to dress up accordingly. This was a business trip for my husband and leisure for me. I would never stay there again. After paying $300 a night (discounted rate for the event) I wish that I would be able to feel pampered or relaxed just a little.

Room Tip: Do not get one!

Hotel listed parking for $38/day. However, it's only VALET parking at an off-site lot! We reserved an Executive King Room with refrigerator. NO refrigerator, unless you count the mini-bar which you can't fit anything in. There was a doorman, who watched me open the door several times (don't know what he thought he was there for). At check-out, we were charged for several items from the mini bar even though we didn't use anything at all from it. On the up side, staff was very friendly and they removed the items from our bill after we waited in line to show them the error.

Thank you for your review, we certainly would have hoped for a more glowing reference but appreciate your feedback so that we may improve our overall guest experience.

In reference to the minibar, I apologize we did not explain more clearly at the front desk; our minibars are designed for the convenience of our guests and allow guests to have a complete folio when express checkout is desired. To this end they automatically post the charge for items that are removed. We do allow a 60 second timeframe to look at the item, consider the purchasing decision and return it before being charged. Should you need a refrigerator for storing items we are certainly happy to deliver one to the room, this is a complimentary service of the hotel.

Once again thank you for sharing your experience, I hope you have an opportunity to return so that we may impress you with our evolution.

I just returned from a week long stay at the Philadelphia Le Meridian. Really, this is an amazing hotel. I'm originally from Philadelphia, an although I was worried about the location (14th & Arch) it turned out to be incredibly convenient to my meeting and dinners with friends. Staff was warm and helpful (something I was not expecting in Philly.)

Room Tip: Become a SPG-- They have a dedicated floor for use

Nice, stylish and clean, however the most important thing to me when travelling is comfort. Room needs a more comfortable place to sit and work, relax or eat. etc. Other than that, it was very nice.

Cute hotel that generally needs to tighten up their cleaning staff..We arrived exhausted for a one night stay. Upon arriving at the room we saw a brown ball that looked like animal feces outside the room which was very disconcerting. Things were fine inside the room but as the nite progressed, we found old clothes (prior guest) in the drawers and the following morning, a bloody band aid by the window and fresh make up on the towels (Only one set of (used) linens for a double room?!?!! to boot). The next day, the brown ball ended up being a cigar butt as someone had stepped on it and there was tobacco all over the hallway by our door.
The next day, breakfast was below average, not what was to be expected from a better hotel but more a greasy spoon. A continental breakfast isnt hard to ruin but the entire meal was dried out like it was under a heat lamp for awhile. Although the front desk was nice enough to comp the meal, I would have been incensed if I had to pay upwards of $20 for dry eggs and toast..
While overall the hotel has a cute modern Ikea vibe, those few issues were pretty unforgiveable., Its back to the Sofitel for some professional service.

We recently stayed firv3 nights and everything was wonderful exceptvforthe view from our room. We actually were staring at thebrick wall of the next building. It didn't seem that busy so I wish we were given a room with a better view. Other than that, the stay was excellent. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was new and modern. I would not hesitate to stay again.
