Owner description: Stop by this small (and free!) museum on your walking tour of Philadelphia. Staffed by actual firemen, Firemans Hall exhibits artifacts, such as leather buckets and fire marks, once and sometimes still used to fight city fires.

This is the second year we have visited this FREE (contributions welcome) museum. The 9/11 tribute is very well done. The kids can put on fireman jackets and boots on the second floor. Be sure to include this hall on you visit.

Definitely a must see, the 09/11 tribute was beautiful and learned so much of the history of the Philly fire department.

on exhibit is a collection or fire trucks/carriages used years ago as well as the uniforms and helmets and patches and tools that these devoted people used... worth a stop if you have the time

This is a small museum, but it's also lots to see.

The museum consist of two levels. The first level consist of mostly old fire trucks and a 9/11 display from the firemen's point of view.

On the upper level they have a big beautiful stained glass window. In one of the rooms they have a funny serie on the wall, teaching kids the important things to do if an fire occurs in your home. you also have the possibility to try the cloths of an firemen here.

There is no fee and the firemen working there happily answers your questions. They did a tour for some schoolgroup when I was there, not sure if they give it on request.

This museum is outstanding... Being a former volunteer firefighter myself, I found it inspirational to see the retired firefighters run this museum. They did a wonderful job.. Leave a timat the door to assist them in keeping this free to the public...
