Visited with my precocious 9 year-old daughter and developmentally-delayed 6 year-old son this afternoon. We only had a little time, and this was a great pick. We did not opt for the audio tour because of time, but had we had more and I had only been with my daughter, we would have. She was intrigued with the small rooms and upholstery shop, and read everything in the house, with most information placed thoughtfully very high on walls so that even in crowded spaces, she could see it easily! My son was most interested in the winding staircases and the hands-on activities in the basement. He could have spent more time “cooking”, and all day trying to pick up the weighted laundry bucket! Nice gift shop and outside area. Unfortunately, we just missed the stories in the courtyard. The house was not very crowded so we zipped through in under a half hour and didn’t feel like we missed any thing. The site offers a Military discount, so the tour was $16 for the four of us. Definitely worth it!

There are many amazing historical places in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the Betsy Ross House is not one of them. It is a complete waste of time. It is extremely commercialized and lacks any historical favor. In my opinion, this is the worse 'historical' attraction in Philadelphia.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Betsy Ross house. We did the guided audio tour, which lasts less than an hour. It was informative, and I thought they did a great job keeping the home as close to original as possible. We learned a lot about Betsy's life and the making of the flag. This attraction is NOT wheelchair accessible, and has very tight knit hallways/stairways. Just FYI.

It's always good to tour a place that's preserved and historically accurate. This is such a place. Great care is shown to give the visitor an authentic tour of the house as it might have been in Betsy's time. Betsy herself is there to answer any questions from her point of view in 1776. There are other actors who also speak as if they are from that time. It's neat. I loved the feel of the house. It's small, with narrow halls and a tight circular stair!! It's a 10-minute walk from Independence Park, but worth it. Go to Elfreth's Alley while you're there.

We saw the outside of the property whilst on a walking tour a couple of years ago, promised we would return, and it was good to finally step across the threshold. The house, whilst not large, has an interesting back story and the history interwoven with the original flag is fascinating. We took the audio guide, although not strictly necessary as it is well signed. We even managed to meet Betsy Ross herself !
