“Our favorite zoo in the world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

We stop in regularly to visit the rare animal house, which is fascinating. This zoo excels at returning endangered species safely to the wild and often has awesome viewing. The spaces for the animals look so well-thought through and considerate. I'm always entranced by the baboons, toucans, & the antics of so many otters. Each animal and bird is such a miracle to behold...and the snakes and reptiles are equally so. The volunteer corps is a real plus, that are so well-informed with much to offer.

“Expect to spend the whole day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I are suckers for zoos and aquariums. We found Philadelphia zoo on trip advisor so we went to check it out while visiting Hershey. While parking is $15, it's in a garage which was very easy to maneuver around. We didn't expect to be there more then a few hours, but there is so much to see. The polar bears were one of my favorites! There's a little movie you can watch in the aviation house, would be great for children. From red pandas, to penguins, jaguar to orangutans this is defiantly worth visiting. For the countries oldest zoo, it looks wonderful and we even we're able to see one of the monkeys running in the stainless steels tunnels above our heads!

“A very nice zoo to visit!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

We visited the zoo on our recent trip to Philly. It was a good zoo to visit. However it was not the largest one we have been too, nor was it the easiest to find our way around in. The animal display venues are sort of dated when compared to other zoos that I have been too, nor did it seem like they had a lot of animals to view. It seemed smaller than other zoos that I have been too. In addition, the location was a little hard to get to. We were staying downtown and decided to use public transportation, using the broad street metro line transferring to the #15 trolley line. It was a little scary, but god bless the friendly people of Philadelphia! Several of the riders and SEPTA drivers were very very helpful in steering us in the right direction and getting us to the zoo. Regardless of these minor comments the zoo was still worth visiting and I enjoyed my time there.

“Nephews and their uncles loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

Just took our nephews, 4 & 8, there a month ago. They had an absolute blast. We had taken them both there, along with their parents and visiting out of state friends with a son around their age, last summer. It is a great zoo and have always enjoyed going there from when when my brothers and I were kids to now when we go as adults. The renovations they have been making to it are very nice and really enhance the experience. We have annual memberships. It is a pity they got rid of their elephant exhibit, though. I do miss them.

“Great Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

This is the oldest zoo in the nation. But it doesn't show it. Very clean and many interesting animals. Big enough to keep you entertained, but small enough to see everything.
