“Seen better, been to worse”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

The Phila Zoo is nice as zoos go. It doesn't hold up to places like the San Diego Zoo, or the Brooklyn Zoo, but it is a nice place. It's sorted nicely, has a good flow, there are plenty of places for breaks, or lunch (whether you buy or bring your own). There are lots of little areas for the kids to play while taking breaks from the animals. They have had some major construction going on for a few years now, which means that not all the animals are available all the time, so you may want to check prior to your visit, in case your little one just has to see the elephants!! All in all a good family day, a good zoo, it's clean, & well kept also.

“Still Love the Zoo Even After 65 + Years”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

I've been going to the Phila. Zoo since I was a toddler. I remember most visits, but the one that stands out most is the one with Ms. Fish and the 1950-51 Kindergarten Class of Fox Chase Public School.
I miss the old Zoo, but they say today's Zoo is better for the animals. Guess I'm considered a Neanderthal to some, because I favor Humans and think the Zoo should also.
We don't visit as much anymore and this is our last year as members, so we won't be renewing our membership

A beautiful location to stroll through and view the animals. Neighborhood is a bit sketchy - come in through route 76

“Great quality place”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Great place to take your kids for a day of fun and learning. They will love all the animals and reptiles. they usually have a new area or redevelop area every year to change it up.
Better to go during the week if you can especially in the warmer months as it gets really crowded on weekends and traffic on the Schuykill and also Girard Ave came be ridiculous.
