My son and I visited U of Penn on a college visit. He immediately fell in love with everything about the campus. The buildings are gorgeous, as is the library (you can show your driver's license and gain admittance). I know, it's Phila., but I still felt that the cost to park in the garage was outrageous. Although the museum says "donation," they expect you to pay the full price of $15/adult.

The UPenn campus has beautiful old buildings. The campus is spread out and right in the middle of the city. Students are friendly and helpful. There are a variety of places to eat on campus including a delicious crepe place.

Love the old buildings and friendly campus atmosphere while being right next to Philadelphia. The book store is worth at least an hour of your time.

Our son was admitted for the 2014-2015 year at Penn and this week was one of the Admitted Student sessions. As parents, your participation is less active than that of your son or daughter, but it gives you time to walk the campus, see the dorms and listen in on parent-specific lectures about life at Penn.

We had spent Friday at UVA and walking on the Penn campus was similar (both older schools with strong traditions) but different in a Penn way. Penn was started by Benjamin Franklin and his influence and recognition are evident. All those sayings of Franklin's that we learned as kids come home to true meaning when you walk the campus.

The value placed on learning is a key piece of every program at Penn and this is presented to the students and the parents in different perspective sessions, but a walk around the campus helps bring home the value even more. The campus, although busy with students going to and from classes, was still a calm and peaceful setting. As we walked around, it became quickly obvious that life at Penn is filled with a history of purpose and belonging.

The museums on the campus host a wide variety of presentations and exhibits. Viewing some of these was an interesting and fun break, and it was also a learning experience.

A visit to Penn should be a part of any stop in Philadelphia, if only to appreciate the history and observe the changes that have taken place over the past 274 years. Go Quakers!
