“Mummies and more at the University of Pennsylvania”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2013

I love to learn about the different people of the world and I love the history of Ancient Egypt and mummies. The University of Pennsylvania has both. They even have ongoing research on artifacts and mummified bodies in which the visitors can not only observe the scientists at work, but can also ask questions about the artifact or body that is being studied at the moment. All cultures are featured in this museum from our very own Native Tribes to the people of Asia. You find yourself wanting to return again and again to this museum because to walk through this building is to walk through time; you feel like a time traveler. They have a great restaurant inside the museum and the staff and security guards are very helpful.

“A beautiful campus”

My daughter is a senior at Penn and I just love the campus. It is such a treat to walk the paths and feel the energy. I will miss the area when she graduates in May

“Green oasis in Philadelphia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

I recently attended a short course at the Wharton School of Business so I had a chance to look at the campus grounds and buildings. It is a great space to wander around and enjoy something very different to the gritty streets of downtown Philly.

The trees, lawns and gardens make for a quiet, calm hideaway. Lovely walks through a range of buildings and architechure dotted with art installations and statues. Take some time out it is worth it.

And of course, being a university, it has easy access to great pubs and eateries that are fun and good value. My pick was Sansom Street where there is plenty to choose from.

“Urban oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

Even the university is situated in the big city of Philadelphia, once you enter the campus you feel like you have entered private park. There are number of beautiful buildings, statues, cozy sitting areas where you can read a book. The whole area is full of trees and flowers. While visiting, don't forget to say hello to Ben Franklin sitting on a bench on one of the walk ways that connect the many buildings. For all of you who are interested in science, you should know that the premier research facility Wistar Institute is part of the university as well.
