the area the university occupies is enormous and immaculately maintained. staff and students uber friendly and willing to stop and take you where you need to get to as the place is so large it is easy to get lost

What's not to like about an Ivy league school??? Incredible buildings and with a history from 1740 it is well worth walking around the campus....

I would strongly recommend anyone visiting the area to tour the Penn campus, peruse the library, and take in the archeological museum and Wistar Institute. Fascinating stuff. There are excellent restaurants in surrounding neighborhoods, as well as bookstores, and theaters such as the Zellerbach that regularly feature special events. Be sure to visit the boathouses along the river, many of which were there when Eakins painted the scullers on the river.

Seeing Penn thru Lionel's eyes was rewarding and added many more shared moments to our relationship. Do vist the vet dog training school for those pups learning to rescue folks, detect cancer and identify explosives. All pups have taken the names of the rescue dogs deployed on 9/11. Then there is the Archeological museum. I felt like I finally got to Egypt and back to China. Wonderful ancient treasures displayed with insight. Then there was Wharton and Lionel's former frat house and a commons, and library etc.

The University of Pennsylvania (not to be confused with Penn State University) was founded by Benjamin Franklin in the 1700s. It has developed into one of the finest universities in the country. It has an excellent undergraduate college, a top notch law school, and it medical school is one of the best. It is located in west Philadelphia and is surrounded by lots of interesting shops and restaurants.
