Owner description: Though amidst a number of other historical sites, the tomb is one of a kind. It's the only memorial to the unknown heroes of the American Revolution.

It's importance to our nations history, would make it more reviered. However it is overlooked and neglected. It sould be a jewel, but is often scared by neglect and abuse

This is a very moving tribute to the over 2,500 American (and British) soldiers from the Revolution buried in this park. While some died as a result of battle wounds, most were victims of disease. Also, the victims of the 1793 (post-Revolution) yellow fever epidemic were buried here. Inspite of the numbers buried here, it did not seem like a graveyard as there are no individual markers.

It is quiet, peaceful and an incredibly touching memorial to individuals buried here (no other markers of their graves). The eternal flame burns here without fancy honor guards or crowds, but that makes it all the more solemn and thought-provoking. It could use more markers to locate and publicize this. I only wish that there had been more information available about this site. Overall, it makes you appreciate the sacrifices individuals made to make America -- a feeling that is sometimes lost in the more crowded tourist attractions like Independence Hall.

It is located in Washington Park (see my separate review of the Park), which is quiet and beautiful. Although there are some homeless here, it is not as bad as the other parks, such as the more popular Rittenhouse Park (see my separate review of Rittenhouse Park). I felt comfortable here visiting it alone, but would not visit it after dark due to safety concerns.

Highly Recommend - Opportunity to truly appreciate the sacrifices for liberty.

Although the surrounding park left much to be desired, the memorial itself was beautiful. I just wish the park was in better condition. A nice place to stop and think.

It was an impressive memorial and I am glad that we stopped by to have a look. The park itself was littered with unassumingly homeless and exercisers.

This is an impressive memorial in a pretty park where many Revolutionary soldiers are buried. This is very near the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. A fire burns beneath a statue and a slab with part of Washington's farewell address on it, and several flags fly in front.
