Owner description: Penn’s Landing, the waterfront site where William Penn docked, is now the great gathering place for outdoor events, especially in warmer weather. A variety of concerts, presentations and athletic events celebrate this waterfront area where history mingles with present-day pursuits.

Great place for a stroll if you have the time. Nice walkway along the shoreline. They have a number of older ships that you can look at and there are river cruises that you can take, very reasonably priced. I guess I am spoiled by the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. Penn's Landing has no stores to buy gifts or restaurants to buy food which was a big disappointment. It seems as though if you are going to go to all this trouble to fix up an area that you would put in stores and restaurants to attract people but that is just my opinion. Probably will not be going back there.!!!!!!

This little riverside area was a pleasant way to get pictures and kill time in the evening. The place was closing shop and not many people were hanging around, which mad the run-down atmosphere all the more obvious. The stage was not in use but looked welcoming enough. The little William Penn timeline under the sitting area to the left of the stage (near the bathrooms and vending machines) was very withered and looked like it had been forgotten. Local kids swam in the fountain nearby us.

This place is likely very lively during the day or during performances, but we found it, while dirty, a peaceful place to relax and, if you like, feed the geese.

Penn's Landing is one of the most prominent of Old City's land marks. It is a waterfront over looking the Delaware. As far as things to do, this is not the most exciting part of the city, particularly for long visits. From the Landing, you can take a ferry over to the Adventure Aquarium in Jersey which is pretty decent. There is also a historic boat and submarine tour on the Landing that is free on Sundays! Not a place to spend the whole day by any means but a very pretty place to have lunch and on the 4th of July a BEAUTIFUL place to watch the fireworks.
