“Awesome experience”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

Had a 7 PM reservation and was seated right away. My request for a super-romantic table was ignored; we were seated at the long line of tables across from the bar. This didn't really matter much however. We opted for the $55 Chef's Tasting Menu and weren't disappointed! So many courses came out that we couldn't finish the big dish of chicken at the end and also couldn't finish the dessert. Highlights were the fried cheese pastries at the beginning, the deconstructed fatty pork buns, and the whitefish ceviche. Also, the mussels were big, juicy, & fresh. Service was attentive and food came out timed very well.

“Great Food and Service”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

We made a reservation through the Open Table Windows Phone app. We got there and still had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated although they did not seem very busy. The two of us were seated at a huge comfy booth that can hold 6 people, which I thought was very nice.

The server explained to us that most dishes are served in small portions and typically can feed 1-2 people. It was different, but great because it enabled us to try many different dishes. I love the bread and spread that was complimentary. Again, different but so tasty! We had the duck tacos (and ordered a second serving after), the crab salad was refreshing. I did not like the curry dish. We also had the spare ribs. They were two small ribs, but PACKED with flavor! Also, the "chocolate" dessert is flourless, so you'll love it if you like dark chocolate. The ice cream it was served with was great too.

It's also a great touch that whenever someone delivered your food to the table, the dish is very well described to you. Very different experience and well worth it!

“Love the small plates!”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Chef Garces at his best! We opted for the $65.00 per person chef's menu with 10 servings and it was so wonderful! Everything was a perfect meld of flavors. Everything was very well done. Service was excellent. Great atmosphere. Spot on! The drinks were quite possibly better than the ones that I had in Lima, Peru! The house pisco sour was wonderful! A truly great night. Highly recommend it.

“Peruvian food in Philly”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Wanted to try another Jose Garcas restaurant. The restaurant had a two hour wait, so we put our name and went for drinks. First, I ordered the Pisco Sour, which could have been better. Our party of three ordered a total of around 8 dishes, half were good and the other have were over the top. I do have to say the service was very good.

“Fabulous. That's all I can say”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Service was fabulous. Food was fabulous. Atmosphere was fabulous. The chef gave us lots of vegan options like mushroom tacos. This place has tapas so you need to order alot of food. The wine is really good too. The booths are big with big pillows.
