Self guided tour so you can learn as much or as little as you like. You get to see the actually workers making the coins.

This is an amazing place. Not just because it is a mint, but rather it is the birthplace of our financial system. A tour of any mint would be interesting. But this was simply over the top as it is in the city where our very country & currency began. You won't regret making the time to take the self guided tour. I'm already looing forward to my next visit to Philly and the Mint is on the top of my to do list!

I just spent 9 days in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Lancaster Co. Penn. The U.S. Mint was one of the best stops on the trip. Who ever gives a moment's notice to how coins are made!? What an cool experience to watch a roll of metal turn into a quarter.

This is one of those trips kids typically take in middle school. There isn't a whole lot to see, but students do get to see how money is made, and it is well worth the trip.

Obviously there was excellent security here but the gentlemen on duty were friendly and very patient with me as I kept triggering the alarm. I had a cough lozenge in a foil wrapper in the depths of a pocket! You also nee to produce ID to enter. The Tiffany mosaics are impressive. The museum area was a great introduction to how the coinage had evolved but the walk around the actual mint where coins were being made was the highlight. This was from a raised, enclosed observation gallery.

The shop at the end was good but Sarah was the star of the visit as she managed to make my partner very happy by enabling him to complete a set of 25 cent state coins. Thank you Sarah!

Unlike another reviewer: we were there on Friday and were able to make the full visit.
