Eccentric side of town and just a short walk from independence hall. Many places to eat, but not much to do other than drink or stroll along. Several tattoo shops, bars, and other local businesses.

We spent almost an hour walking through South St. but didn't find any restaurant to dine in after visiting Philadelphia's Magical Gardens.

A stroll down South Street always opens up both a vista of humanity as well as some interesting shops. Whether it is something to do with books on spirituality, old records, or new sneakers there seems to be something for everyone. Of course people watching here is always fun as well. I didn't get to sample any of the restaurants but there definitely was a range of choices.

South Street was far more fun years ago. When "mall" style stores moved in, it seemed teenagers moved in as well. Gone are the days when you went to see a great alternative band at JC Dobbs then hung out at one of the bars until closing.

Aside from the TLA, the street now holds little attraction for this 54 year old. Yeah, I know, I sound like I'm about to yell "get off my street, you brats!" *snicker*
