This museum is aimed for young children BUT parents, grandparents, and older children learn something each time they visit!
It is worth the price of membership if you are local, as you could spend more than a day enjoying every aspect of this fun "museum"! Don't miss the indoor merry-go-round too !!!

I took my 3,4, and 8 year olds to this museum and was totally blown away. This place is amazing! Very educational and a lot of history to learn about. The Jazz for kids music festival was really cool and the kids enjoyed it. The tickets price was $$$ but I use my AAA and it helped a little. The lunchroom served healthy treats for kids and adults. I great place to explore. A must go!

An excellent venue for young (Under 10) grand kids. We spent several hours with them. Street parking is easy and plentyful around the site.

This museum is promoted as an attraction for very young children. I have been here with children ranging in age from very young to pre-teen and all have loved it. Check the web site for details on different areas of the facility focusing on transportation, outer space, water, Alice in Wonderland, music, art, a child sized village, and more. The beautiful carousel room is filled with carnival aromas. They have an impressive, glass enclosed model of Philadelphia’s Centennial Celebration grounds on the lower floor depicting the current building and those that once surrounded it. Entering the grounds as you pass through the imposing Civil War Memorial and then coming upon Memorial Hall (in which the museum is currently housed and which once served as the home of the Pennsylvania Museum of Art) is an experience on its own. We take the nearly two hour drive from northern NJ several times each year to visit the museum and nearby zoo (just a few minutes away). Tickets are very reasonably priced for the experience. Even more reasonable is the price of a 12 month membership. Parking in their lot is free with the membership. If you are not a member, do not spend the extra money to park in the lot. Park for free on the roads surrounding the building. For the best experience, get there close to when it opens in the morning. On busy days it is filled. If you stop in near closing time you might get lucky and there may not be too many people remaining.
