The Sofitel isn't the most expensive hotel in the city, but it also isn't the cheapest. We booked for around $175 a night. I actually thought it was a good deal compared with the other up-scale hotels near Rittenhouse Square. It is a good base for dining/nightlife around the square, but not really walkable to the major touristy attractions such as the Liberty Bell or Constitution Center.
The rooms are spotless and the beds (as is a Sofitel trademark) are exceptionally comfortable. The view isn't anything special, but you are in a big city and that should be expected. The valet parking is helpful and the staff is quite friendly--always welcoming you with a 'Bonjour!'. The hotel bar is also a nice place to unwind; although, the good selection of drinks comes at a price. The room service is also prompt and not too badly priced. The pomme frites are delicious!
Be wary of the showers. They can leak water onto the floor pretty badly. This seems to be a common thing with European hotels so is not totally unexpected.More
