We just spent a night at the Sofitel in Philadelphia. The staff was very nice from check-in to check-out. We had a standard room which was very large with a great bathroom. Our weekend rate was reasonable and included breakfast. The waiter was extremely nice and the meal was very good. We would definitely stay there again.

Just returned from a weekend away at the Sofitel. A wonderful experience, the staff are very professional, the hotel is well located, and the rooms and public areas are all very new, plush, and exceeded all expectations.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Center City at 17th & Samson Streets. It's very close to many restaurants, bars, shops and several gyms. The lobby was very inviting. We were able to get a really great rate via hotels.com - $159 prepaid for each night. That was less than half of the list price. I would suggest searching around various internet sites before you settle on a price. The room was not huge, but was large enough to fit a king size bed, several chairs and a desk. There was a city scape view. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The bathroom was huge and had a shower stall separate from the bath. The shower felt very great and there were nice toiletries provided. The only downside was that the tv was limited on how many stations it carried. There may have only been about 15 channels. The service by the staff was good and I would definitely return to try the Sofitel again.

My husband and I spent one night at the Sofitel in Philadelphia. We chose the hotel based on the reviews from Trip Advisor. It exceeded our expectations. From the hotel check in to check out, the service was excellent. I even left my cell phone in my car and the valet was happy to retrieve it for me. The location is amazing, around the corner from excellent restaurants and shopping on Walnut Street. We upgraded to a Jr. Suite for a small extra fee and it was well worth it. The room was incredibly clean, also. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever stayed in! All and all, you can't go wrong here.

Stayed here in March 2005 and in the New York Sofitel in Dec 2004. Both are great hotels. huge rooms and excellent service. Location is a key element of the hotels success. The Philly one is just below City Hall and about 10 minutes to the Old City and the great historical sites of Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Betsy Ross's house. Caught the St Patricks day parade in the city and the the Museum of Art is a must. For info the hotel in New York is about 500 yards off Times Square and in an ideal location. Enjoyed several days at the Sofitel. We visit Philadelphia frequently and usually stay at a cheaper place, but the reviews convinced us to spend a little more. We were happy we stayed there. The beds are great, and the rooms are generally comfortable and very quiet. They have gone to great lengths to soundproof, even putting the ice machine in a soundproof room. The staff was professional, helpful, and plentiful. Good public areas, and the location is near many good restaurants in all price ranges. I was surprised that there was no coffee maker in the room (a king) and no washcloth, just a terry shower mitt. I know this is a French chain, and in France, one doesn't find a coffee maker or a washcloth in most hotel rooms; but, I thought it would be provided in Philadelphia. Since those are the only shortcomings I could find, you can tell that we found the Sofitel to be a very good place to stay.
