“Regular Visitor”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

I am a regular visitor to Philadelphia for business/pleasure and will only stay in the Sofitel, if not available, I will change the dates. Not only is the location perfect, the hotel it's self is clean, modern and it has a great atmosphere. It's not the cheapest hotel in the city but I would consider it a bargain with what it has to offer and the staff really do go out of their way to help with any query.

PS. The beds are the best beds you will find in any hotel, anywhere!

Beautiful hotel with an excellent staff that attend to your needs and wants. Had a Junior Suite with parking and breakfast for Valentines Day. Parking in Philly is terrible and pulling up to the valet who confirmed the reservation on his tablet and took our vehicle. Check-in was flawless and the staff was cordial and helpful. Room was on the 5th floor so our view was a boarded up building but if we looked above it we could see Liberty Place. Room was spacious and warm, bed was awesome, and bathroom was huge for a Center City hotel. Bonus security of the elevators only letting you select the floor you are registered on was a nice touch if not confusing to some guests. The included breakfast for our package was a step up from the normal buffet and there was an a la carte option.

The best part of the Sofitel is the location with City Hall, restaurant row, and a huge selection of bars in a 3 block radius.

Very very good staff, friendly, efficient, there in the background, but at your side when needed! Lovely comfy beds, spacious suites. Low noise level in rooms, enabling a good nights sleep. Terrific cocktails, try the four aces....food was just right portion size. Very central hotel, within walking distance of lots of shops, restaurants etc. nice quality shampoos etc in the rooms. The only let down is no kettle in the room for us English and our tea! Look forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: Anywhere seemed to be good

A stay in Philadelphia in order to continue some research at Penn Uni and visit Art museums we booked a stay-4-pay-3 deal. The rooms were large, spacious and elegantly decorated. The front desk staff were very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was excellent and despite the chill and remaining snow on the ground most attractions were within a brisk 1-2 km walk. We appreciated the coffee machine in the room to come 'home' to on cold days. We'd have to recommend the Room Service Trays, Philadelphia & American for a fun night in if it's too cold to go out and eating in pjs appeals, as the amount was generous. We would stay again.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us from our central location to the service and amenities offered, and truly look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Recently renovated, very confortable beds, very accomodating staff, both at the front desk and concierge, excellent croissants and hot chocolate. Would stay there again any time. Philadelphia was more interesting than I thought, a lot of american history and early art as well as several restaurants with great food and service.

Room Tip: We loved our suite on the 10th floor where our 10 year old had his own space.

Dear Cristian B,

The Junior Suite was a wonderful choice for your stay so that there was plenty of space and your son could have his own room separated from the bedroom. I am pleased that you enjoyed our downtown Philadelphia area and all that is offered from museums to restaurants and service.

Please stop by to visit our concierges during your next stay so they can help you plan some great spots to visit while in Philadelphia.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Vincent

The manager of the hotel and the overall staff are very good. Accomadations terrific. Location of the hotel was perfect. the room was large and clean. Parking in the front was tight. Card for elevator was a bit of a pain.

We stayed here for two nights when a severe ice storm created power outages in much of the surrounding suburbs of Philadelphia. It was a lovely refuge in a lovely setting and in a very convenient location.
The staff in the breakfast restaurant, Chez Colette, were delightful. They addressed me by name and our waiter, Miguil, offered to bring my partner eggs over easy separately so that he could enjoy the buffet without having to eat the scrambled eggs. Loved the mini pain aux raisins pastries!

Our room was on the 14th floor, quiet, away from the elevator, and well appointed with Lanvin bathroom products. When the TV reception was snowy, an engineer came up right away to try to fix the issue. Ultimately, it was not something in his control. I had to call once more to ask the deadbolt to be fixed. The door was not aligned to allow the deadbolt to be thrown and so, for security's sake, we just used the chain lock while we were in the room. They offered to move us to another room but by then, we decided to just stay put.

I had reserved on their website and the promotion that included breakfast on a weekend was a very good deal ($175) since the breakfast buffet is $20 pp and I would recommend this highly. There is free Wifi in the rooms and plenty of convenient electrical outlets. We did not look over Rittenhouse Square so it was not as scenic, but at night you could look out above the neighboring buildings and see the skyline of Philadelphia.

We walked to dinners at Parc and Tequila's and to lunch at Oyster House. Window shopped on Walnut Street. Bought warm chocolate chip cookies at Insomnia Cookies. Would stay there again!

Room Tip: High floor away from elevator. You have to walk further but it is more quiet.

Dear L L C,

An ice storm creating power outages is certainly not an ideal situation, but I am delighted that we had the opportunity to welcome you to a warm and comfortable "refuge" here in Philadelphia.

It is our pleasure that you enjoyed all that we have to offer here from breakfast in Chez Colette to our downtown location offering just a short walk to shops and restaurants.

Thank you for taking the time to share such lovely feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
