“Good Ritz. Great Location.”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Stayed at the Ritz for business. The hotel is located in a great location near city hall. One block from the orange line and a quick 5 minute cab ride (less than $10) to the train station. Walking distance to Reading Terminal market, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and other historical sites. Property provides free bottled water and chocolates at turn down. Did not visit the spa or fitness facilities. Lobby is stunning with a great bar for late night cocktails. Excellent and helpful as to be expected from a Ritz.

Strangely the mini bar was empty but you could phone in your request. Fridge located in room. Good wifi signal. Poor water pressure in the shower, but perhaps due to the fact we were on the 26th floor? Property was not as luxurious (linens, bath products, towels, etc.) at other Ritz properties or even some Four Seasons thus only a 4 rating. Def. worth a stay for the right price.

A beautiful historic building in the middle of all the action in Philadelphia. A block from the Union League and adjacent to City Hall.

Customer service is over the top outstanding even thought they were not able to get me into my room of choice. I arrive after THE WORST cab ride of my life and the porter immediately took over my bags and reported the driver. As soon as you walk into the marble columned lobby you feel calm, cool, and like you 'arrived'. The rooms are not over sized but the bathrooms certainly make up for the bedroom. Wow. The beautiful shower, private water closet, soaker tub with a view and high end toiletries felt spa-like.
The annoying faulty room cards did get a little irritating and the catacomb like meeting rooms that we spent the entire day in were a bit disappointing, but overall an amazing hotel that will leave a lasting impression for every visitor.

Room Tip: My room 2605 was very quiet.

Stayed here recently for a ladies weekend with someone from Philly. It was gorgeous. Champagne served on arrival was very welcome. The location is ideal for exploring Center City. There are many great restaurants well within walking distance.

We stayed here for two nights to attend a birthday party in Philly. I did not feel that this Ritz is quite up to the standards of the chain (which is maybe why the rates are lower than most other Ritzs?). The hotel is nevertheless quite nice and offers good service and accommodations. The building is very interesting as it is in an old bank. However, I did not care for the lighting during the day. It seems sort of dark in there. At night, the lobby is loud and more reminiscent of a W hotel. Young and loud crowd. I really enjoyed the view from our room which was right over city hall. Pretty. I had a broken foot when we visited and we were in a wheelchair. We were placed in an accessible room which I did not care so much about. Shower/tub combo reminded me more of a Holiday Inn.

Have stayed here several times. Great location in Center City. Decent service; a little on the edge of mechanical and rehearsed. They say "my pleasure" in response to a request but the tone doesn't really back it up. We had a spacious room, very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was overpriced - which was expected. Valet parking at $49 is a little steep. Overall, nothing to be unhappy about with the stay; can't beat the location but I guess that's what you're really paying for.

The Ritz Carlton is a gorgeous hotel with a welcoming feel despite its location in a big city. From a phone call made to check on suite readiness to the final call to have your car ready this hotel offers consistently pleasant reception. I have only positive comments on the service, cleanliness, security, room service, and spa. The location is excellent. It is easy to walk to pick up toiletry items that you may have forgotten or to shop for climate appropriate clothing. The night life is fabulous. Sporting events are a short public transportation ride away. Tickets are easy to obtain ... even Craig s List has Sporting event tickets that are available last minute for a great price. Then you return to the gorgeous lobby with live music and the familiar pleasant faces of the staff at this elegant hotel. I return at least 6 times a year as I find no reason to experiment by staying anyplace other than the Ritz!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of William Penn as you will never tire of the view as it changes with the...

This hotel is housed in a historic building rigt downtown! It is beautiful! You can walk about 10 blocks to the historic district or about the same length or a little longer, to the Museum district, and Rittenhouse Square. You have to LOVe any hotel who greets you at the reception area in the afternoon with a glass of champagne!
Our room was a basic room...very nice...the bathroom in the basic room is very small. The sink area has a huge sink, taking up the area you would use to put your toiletries. Just not enough room for my stuff and my husband's things. The bathroom door open IN to the bathroom and is a little in the way of your coming and going inthe bathroom...just tight for 2 people...
The Rom is well appointed, however it is dark! Not enough lamps, but I am a light person. Reading in bed at night was a challenge.
Be awrae that the beautiful lobby bar turns in to a disco/hip hop happening night spot on the weekend. We were looking for a nice, elegant spot to have a drink before dinner..not here...too bad, because it is so pretty in there. The staff is wonderful..very kind and helpful..Concierge people were awesome! Breakfast buffet is $35.00 per person..very expensive, but it is the city! All in all, a good place to be!
