We stayed at this hotel for a few days, as my wife was having surgery at Penn Hospital, a few short blocks away. Parking is about 100 yards away & is about $14 a day. Safe parking. We were met by friendly desk help, who were always hospitable, and helpful. The hotel itself is older, however is kept up to date, very clean and decorated tastefully. The rooms are small & quaint, but again, very clean & fresh. Never had that "hinky" feeling you get at some hotels. Maids were friendly & kept on schedule. They were also helpful, if something was needed. In the basement is a small area with gym equipment & two computers for free internet access. Also an ice machine, as no refridgerators exist in the rooms. The free breakfast buffet was ample and loaded with everything from coffee to waffles, eggs, cereal, etc. The location was safe, nice & in a well lit area at night. At no time did we feel uncomfortable. Nights were super quiet & peaceful. If smaller rooms don't bother you, this place is WELL worth the money. Nice toiletries, clean rooms, and an awesome staff who went out of their way to make our stay nice. Needless to stay...we will return here, just to get away somewhere and enjoy the sights of Philadelphia. Thanx guys ! It was a pleasure staying.

Just got back from Philadelphia and had a great stay at the Alexander Inn. The room was spacious, comfortable and had great views from the bay windows (room 501). Nice breakfast and courteous staff made our family trip even better.

We spent 5 nights at the Alexander Inn and totally enjoyed every moment. The Inn is located in Center City which is within walking distance of all the many attractions Philadelphia has to offer.
John, Mr. Innkeeper Extraordinaire and his very capable staff make it very easy to recommend this value-conscious and tourist friendly property. Thanks for all of your advice and friendly service!

Clean, quiet, characterful, convenient; pleasant staff; hot water and lots of it (I do like a good shower, and my suite's was excellent)... but oh, what a sad little droopy breakfast! Twelve tubs of vanilla yogurt and one of strawberry; a platter of shelled hard-boiled eggs; a bowl of bananas, a bowl of apples, several dispensers of dry cereal; juices; coffee; two toasters and various sliced second-rate baked goods (pseudo-bagels, Engiish muffins several notches down from Thomas'; nasty would-be waffles); dreary tublets of margarine, non-maple syrup, Smucker's preserves, and Kraft's library paste -- oh, all right, "Philadelphia cream cheese", but how DO you tell the stuff from spackling compound?). Clearly a breakfast selection put together principally to discourage people from carrying their lunch away with them... Are you reading this, hotel management? Then take $5 / person off your overnight rate, provide your guests with chits good for the Alexander Inn Selection at any of the many, many little eateries within a two minutes' walk from your door, and make coffee available off the lobby as a backstop. Don't skimp and botch: Outsource to someone who can do the job properly!

The Alexander Inn is a warm inviting unique hotel /inn conveniently located in downtown Philadelphia. While our room was not huge, it was beautifully decorated and had a a nice view. A real bonus - breakfast is included. Parking is not included but discounted. Generally, the staff is quite accommodating. We will definitely return.

The term boutique hotel was always frightening to me as I understood the boutique part to translate into expensive. Boy was I wrong. Not only was the Alexander Inn comporably priced, if not less expensive than, the national chains in the area but it was fantastic. Our room was clean and beautiful with a nice view of the city. I never heard any of our neighbors, but there they were at the excellent complimentary breakfast. The hotel staff was more than kind and helpful and the hotel was excellently located. My stay was brief but very enjoyable. The only thing I wish I could change? It would be nice if they had attached parking, but the garage we used was close and reasoably priced. And the pillows were a little bit uncomfortable...but now I'm nitpicking :)

It was nice to stay in a boutique hotel in the Gayborhood. We found our room perfectly comfortable. It wasn't cavernous but we didn't expect it to be. We had an enormous king size bed which was very comfortable. The bath room was fine with a lovely powerful shower. The buffet breakfast was fine, with some healthy options. I would have preferred some cold meat, but perhaps it isn't done in America. Staff in the hotel all very helpful and friendly. We were polite to them and they were polite back. The gym in the basement was small, but it had most of the things one needed. I'm on holiday after all, and am not obsessed with working out all hours of the day. There were two PCs there which was useful. The location was also nice and not far to walk to restaurants, bars, the ubiquitous coffee shops and theatres on Broad Street. You also get discounted parking just a few minutes walk away. Very happy to recommend it and to stay there again. One thing we did miss was tea making facilities in the room. Having spent 2 weeks in America, we did miss a proper cup of tea ! Next time I will know to bring a travel kettle with me.
