Owner description: This museum, located at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, is one of the finest medical history museums in America. The Mütter is a 19th century style cabinet museum displaying medical artifacts such as anatomical specimens and medical instruments. Marvel at the beauty and strangeness of the human body. The Mütter is home to many notorious exhibits including Harry Eastlack's skeleton, the Megacolon, the Soap Lady, and the Hyrtl Skull Collection. It's also the only place to have pieces of Einstein's brain on display. Admission to the museum also includes admission to the Thomson Art Gallery, featuring medical-themed art, and the Benjamin Rush Medicinal Plant Garden. A visit to the Mütter is unforgettable...prepare yourself to be disturbingly informed.

“"The real 2 Headed Baby"”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Yes, you can see the two headed baby, the death cast of the body of The Original Siamese Twins, the baby with no brain, over 75 skulls from the last 200 years from all over the world, 1,000's of items retrieved from the throats of patients and the instruments used to retrieve them. This is a great place to see the unimaginable, the strange, yet true abnormalities of human life. Worth the $15 entrance fee!

“Creepy cool.”

This quaint little medical museum has a lot to offer. If you have a weak stomach you may want to skip this museum. There are so many odd species and body parts on display. I believe they even had a piece of Lincoln's skull. The enlarged skulls and babies were very interesting. It really makes you thankful to be healthy and alive.

“You like weird they have weird. One stop Medical Mysteries.”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

This mall but quaint medical museum is one of the rare unique things about Philadelphia few get to see let alone experience. But with all the popular TV reality/ drama shows, regarding medical oddities, anyone would love this then. It is mind blowing to see in person.Booth's pinky finger my favorite.

“My daughter is still having nightmares.”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

I loved this place. In fact, I've been waiting for years to visit after seeing it on a travel channel show. My family, however did not. While I was busy oohing and aahing over the wax models of faces devoured by syphilis and ovarian cysts the size of Montana, my 11 year old daughter was cowering in the corner, hugging her knees to her chest, and rocking back and forth while repeating affirmations of health and safety. I think the fetuses in the jars put her over the over the edge
