We normally do a girl’s night in the city and my friend purchased tickets for the Burlesque Nutcracker something I thought I would never go to in my life! Well the show was wonderful and the seating was great! They had wine and snacks available for purchase and you also got to see artwork from their featured artist of the month. The only downside is when you come in you have to look at an art installation that looks like a giant red hairball coming out of the wall, gross! Besides that it was a great venue!

Had to add a review here, as I cannot believe the Bride has never been reviewed before!

One of the better, more interesting small theater and music venues in the Philadelphia area. Have been here so many times, and seen some incredible advant garde theater, dance, band, spoken word, etc. over the years. In a town with a huge theater tradition, the Painted Bride has always stood out as a place to see artists you would not see anywhere else. I was saddened when it appeared the bookings went almost exclusively to Jazz about 10 years ago, but they have returned to their roots, IMO, and now show a much better variety. Also has an interesting art exhibit space for unusual pieces that you can tour before the shows. My only complaint is that they do not book enough shows at this space. Check out the exterior of the venue as well - decorated by famed Philly mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar.

Location of the theater is a bit above Market/Vine off 2nd street in a fairly quiet upscale residential area. Note there is an excellent Persian restaurant a few doors up the street, and makes a great paring when seeing a show.

HIGHLY recommended.
