“...the small things”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

Have stayed here before and enjoyed it ,however ... Elevator was out of order which wasn't an issue but the main stairway a a bad odor.Air vent made a horrible clicking noise. The bed had hair obviously left from a previous visit all over. Both mornings i went down stairs to take advantage of the included continental breakfast i had to either eat it in my room or listen to the morning staff openly complain about guest they encountered during their previous shift. And those were just the small things

I love Philly. I love everything about it. If I didn't love my home town so much, I would move here.

I am writing this review from the extreme comfort of my cozy bed in the hotel. Let's get the negatives over with. Yes, they are in mid-renovation, and so the aesthetics outside the room are not all that they could be. The room itself surprised me a little with its small size and lack of mini-fridge. The elevator is being repaired, so we did have to walk up the stairs to our room.

All that said... I don't care about the attractiveness of the hallway. The room itself was appealing, especially after a long trip, with a beautifully made bed taking center stage. We were travelling on business and didn't need an enormous room, and given the ideal location and the bargain rate, I have no complaints. If anything, I grew to appreciate the convenience of having everything ready at hand, rather than spread out. A mini-fridge really would add a lot to the space, though! And we use the stairs at home, so it was no trouble to do so here.

The staff was superb, more gracious and hospitable than those in many of the more expensive places I have stayed. The room was exceptionally clean, and served its purpose admirably. I felt safe knowing that the outer doors would be locked at 9, remaining accessible to me by key card.

If you are accustomed to high end hotels, you will find a lot to raise your nose at here. Pay double or triple the rate and you can find a room to suit your taste elsewhere. But if you are cost conscious and appreciate simple quality and location, you will not find a better deal in Center City.

Room Tip: Just ask the staff about the characteristics that you are looking for in a room. They will go out of...

This location is comfortable but still a work in progress.  The ongoing renovations are clearly needed, but for now they also disrupt the experience a little.  Regardless, the shower was perfect, the bed seemed new and was comfy, and the breakfast area was clean and well-stocked.  The location is perfect for Convention Center activities, and there's a nice convenience store next door on the corner.  There's also a  homeless shelter nearby, so some families may have a surprise.  Also, try to avoid a street-facing room due to street and convention center noise.
