Days Inn Philadelphia Convention Center
Ranked #72 of 88 Hotels in Philadelphia
Reviewed January 31, 2013

My family and I often stay at Days Inns and find them clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. This Days Inn was recently purchased from Travelodge -- the old name was covered with a Days Inn banner. The rooms are smaller than the typical Days Inn room. They were very basic, but they were clean, the TV worked and the bed was comfortable.

A warning, however: it's next door to a homeless shelter. The men who hung around the shelter were in no way threatening to us, but for people like the reviewer who wanted to cry when the taxi dropped her off with her kids, this is an issue of which you should be aware before you book.

But again, we felt perfectly safe, the hotel staff were attentive, the rooms clean and comfortable, the price was certainly right and the location is great: across the street from the Convention Center and only a few blocks from both Reading Market and some of the best Southeast Asian restaurants around.

Room Tip: Higher floors are likely to be quieter. Ask for an outside room

a/c on the roof. every time the compressor came on there was a very loud banging noise. woke me up several times each night.
the carpets appear stained. although technically they may be clean, they impart a dirty run-down feeling.

Room Tip: until they invest in sound proofing and new carpets, stay away.

After reading the reviews, I was not expecting a nice experience, however I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean, staff was very helpful and the beds were very comfortable. I came to the travellodge because I wanted the continental breakfast. It was very nice - they served cereal, oatmeal, juices, coffee, tea, Thomas's English muffins, bread, yogurt and muffins.
There was a mix-up with our luggage when we stayed, but the staff worked very hard to correct it right away.
The location was great.
