This is a great restaurant. It was our first visit to Philly and we were pleasantly surprised by the Parc's ability to deliver excellent quality food. So much that we had to come back for dinner the next night. The ambience and decor is decisively French from the beginning of 20th century. Inside there is huge bar always busy and a few tables outside on the street that seem impossible to book. The Parc is located in a very popular spot in central Philly with lots of other restaurants, so bookings are strongly recommended. However, we just showed up both nights and in spite of being very busy and that we were a party of 6, they did not take too long to find us a table. Besides, you will never feel bored just peaking at the frantic activity around you or sipping a drink while waiting as the ambience is energized and entertaining. We ordered oysters, they have an interesting variety of very fresh oysters, escargots that were sublime and calamari for the less adventurous. For mains I ordered the shank of lamb that was simply delicious. The meat was so tender that I did not have to use the fork at all. It was cooked to perfection. It came with creamy and cheese polenta, a perfect compliment to the lamb. My wife had the duck -rotisserie duck-- again full of flavor, tender meat, slow cooked with a touch of red wine, outstanding! For desert, we had the tarte tatin, the best in a long while. The service was excellent, the staff knew each plate and were always around --without being invasive-- to our requests. The wine list was mainly from France and prices were not exorbitant but not inexpensive either. In terms of quality/ price ratio we thought it was just right. I have paid a lot more money elsewhere for food that is mediocre at best. We will definitely return to the Parc when we get back to Philly

Post Christmas dinner out for three. We decided on the Parc given its reputation for its onion soup and proximity to our hotel near Rittenhouse Square. We all had the soup and an appetizer. My wife's beet salad was very good. My friend's crab and my charcuterie both excellent. The restaurant is big but the service didn't seem to suffer--thank you Sue. With 6 drinks and 6 appetizers including the soup the tab was $228 plus tip. So, bring money and enjoy. We have had the Parc Sunday brunch and it was also excellent.

Our large group met with friendly, if a bit pretentious, service and everyone enjoyed their meals. My dinner companions enjoyed their Onion Soup, the beet salad was a real delight (served just slightly warm, with just enough feta and other tastes to balance to sweet beets), the beef stroganoff was very good but too big to finish (far too much pasta), and the ravioli were excellent. Not much choice for vegetarians, and beware that all soup stock (bouillon) is animal-based! Weather-permitting, there is an outdoor terrace overlooking the park. The ambiance is authentically French, with even the smallest details giving it the feel of a well-established Parisian bistro, except the menu, which mis-uses French to dumb it down for the local diners.

It was the rare 60F night in Pa and people took full advantage of the outside seating. The view to the park adjacent with fairy light is quite enchanting. However it all ends there. The food here is average and the staff have the I'm over it look .Outside the tables were full but not many smiles. looked a bit like chickens lined up for slaughter. Inside the noise (not Music) is grinding away. so load voices are needed. So to start you have pounding noise and then you eat with this!! Not so easy!! As for the rustic bread I hope you did not pay $60 a head to come for that !!The menu is fine and the food is well presented. Table service is average but maybe holiday season has them worn out !! The bar has a wide selection of Spirits and Beers and you can hang there with a stool and chill. This may not be the best choice but it has aesthetic charm nostalgic architecture and visua presence. So look at the ceiling eat the bread and all will be OK.

Love this place. Stumbled on it by chance. Had the smoked salmon and the shrimp salad. Both lived up to their raves. The home made bread is amazing. Make sure to ask for a load to go!!!
