“We enjoyed this charming hotel”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We spent four nights here and had a room with a balcony overlooking the river. Okay, the river is on the other side of the highway but it's still a nice view. The location is great, parking is right next door and the staff is very helpful and professional. We enjoyed the restaurant and bar on the ground floor. If you're looking for an historic hotel in a great location, you'll probably like Penn's View. We will stay here again when in Philly.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor so we had a nice balcony and view.

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The hotel is in an excellent location and is walking distance to many things in downtown Philly. The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were relatively small but are Cozy and clean. The hotel is a bit of an older style but is very classy.

My only complain was that the internet was pretty slow, although they did give me access to a 2nd network, but that wasn't much faster. My wake up call was also 15 minutes late but it was not a big deal. Its not a machine that calls you its an actual person.

I would stay here again on business for a short stay.

Thank you!

Delightful hotel ~ gets hearty approval by my family. Close to the historic district. The only thing they really need to improve is the Wi-Fi. Otherwise, this hotel is great -- a comfortable and beautiful place to stay in Philadelphia. EXCELLENT breakfast in the AM ! GREAT staff !

This boutique hotel was selected off the internet by the photos and reviews it had received. It turned out to be a very special place. The bar/restaurant is a little pricey for our tastes but is a lovely area. The room is spacious, with a lot of historical charm and very clean. The bathroom is also large and has marble floors. The morning continental breakfast is complimentary and very good. They had different items and each was tasty. And, what is special, they did not use paper goods for this breakfast, you ate on a china plate with silverware and cloth napkins! Several folks came in after hours for the breakfast and the food remained for them. It is a very unrushed atmosphere and the staff goes out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: It is a little hike to get to the Reading Terminal, one of our destinations. It is close to restaur...

Lovely Philadelphia hotel. Great location for launching in many directions in a great walking city-easy access to taxis and car lot attached to hotel for $23 OVN. Dark, warm, cozy bar and restaurant-120 wines "on tap". Started with 5-7 Happy Hour-very good $5 wine choice and $5 off fabulous options for sampling wine flights. Rooms have that historical Philadelphia feel but are not old and worn-very clean and comfortable. I had Rm 510 with large outdoor terrace overlooking river-great view of river and BF bridge but noisy on terrace due to traffic on highway. Traffic noise not an issue inside room with A/C on. Manager Antonio was very welcoming and helpful both in planning stay on phone and when we arrived. He even greeted us on the street a few blocks away later that night and remembered our names. Charming! Breakfast was very good for a Continental breakfast-make your own waffles with Liberty Bell emblem (cute!), good coffee, pastries, fruit etc. Will be back to this hotel-looking forward to planning a romantic weekend here with my husband.

Drove from Boston down to Philadelphia to second stop for 3 nights at Penn's View Hotel. Room type King Bed with Jacuzzi bathtub at $179 per night including breakfast. Room was large with plenty of storage space and large bathroom. The room itself was a little on the dark side with not much natural light from the side-facing window, but was quiet. The room décor was unusual, but we liked it. Breakfast was fine, with choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, pastries, eggs, etc. The location was very good, 10-15 minute walk to Independence Hall or on bus routes to city centre and Museum of Fine Arts - the Phlash bus drivers must be the friendliest anywhere! Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance, including the Franklin Fountain Ice cream parlour. We had evening dinner in the in-house restaurant, The Panorama, on two occasions. The food quality was good, but we thought the wine was particularly expensive starting at $30+ per bottle. However, again the quality was good. Would have given the hotel a higher rating, but there was some niggling service issues - no offer of help with the luggage, room not serviced until late in the afternoon, management lacking common courtesy's like "did you enjoy your stay", all a little bit cold. Final point convenient parking adjacent at $23 per night.

So sweet, quiet and romantic! Beautiful view of the water, so close to great restaurants, the rooms are cozy and the staff are so sweet and helpful. This is our go-to hotel in Philly to get away for a romantic weekend!!!! And the value is incredible.
