My second stay here in 5 or 6 years and it was just as great as I remember. Wonderful, accomodating staff, nice rooms and fitness center, good breakfast and excellent location. Quick walk to lots of great restaurants, not to mention independence hall and the liberty bell.

Hotel is near the main Philadelphia attractions, Liberty Bell, independence Hall, etc. Many good restaurants, Pubs nearby. I traveled on business and previously stayed at the Sheraton Society Hill (Sheraton undergoing renovations feb 2012). I judge the Omni better than the Sheraton, and in a slightly better location. A travel companion also judged the Omni better than the Hyatt (on the river), probably because of the location. Another travel companion thought the Marriott(s) near City Hall better than the Omni, but I cannot judge myself. I would say the Omni location is better. I did not use the Hotel internet access (used my own hot spot), but others thought the Hotel internet connection was not very good (although they were trying to download large files). I only ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast. The breakfast was good, but may be a little pricey ( ~$20) if you are not traveling on business. I did have drinks/sandwiches in the lobby bar, which was fine. I had a little trouble with the room key card not working, but the staff were always quite helpful and did get teh problem fixed. The beds were comfortable but a little more soft than I personally like. The bathroom had a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, QTips, etc. No complaints with the room, which was a good size with a desk and a couple of sofa chairs. I did not use the recreation/exercise equipment, but a traveling companion mentioned it was so-so. The hotel also has conference rooms on at least some of the lower room floors. Across from my room there was a small conference room.

Room Tip: The hotel has 12 floors of rooms, but not many rooms per floor, so they all are near the elevator...

This hotel has great potential and is in a fantastic location. However, we could not have had a more frustrating experience beginning with trouble with their website when booking, a wait for valet and bellman, and a somewhat surly front desk clerk. And that is before hitting the wrong room and relocation to a new room with a dirty bathroom (it appears someone had done some kind of maintenance and failed to clean up). We were compensated with breakfast for one which our server kindly converted to breakfast for both of us! After receiving halfhearted help in the spa I was told that they could not handle any room charges and after returning to my room for cash I was locked out of the elevator. Dinner was available only through room service although snacks were available at the bar. There was no shower pressure and the telephone only worked with two lines open at once. The restaurant was just tired, worn out and depressing and oddly the concierge left at 7 PM! This hotel seems short staffed, management heavy and it exudes a surprising lack of enthusiasm and overall service I have come to expect from Omni. I will pass on this property in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel have million dollar views

If you are heading for Philadelphia for business or pleasure and you like extremely reasonable pricing, a European flair and top notch service in a great location, then head for the Omni Hotel at Independence Park. I stayed there this week and could not have been more content. The rooms are large, updated, comfortable and clean . It has the feel of a small European hotel with a classy lobby and a warm lounge where you can meet friends or clients for a drink. The staff are smiling and accommodating. The hotel is right across the street from Independence Park, with the famous Hall and the Bell and all the history that surrounds the Revolution. There are excellent restaurants nearby in the Old City and the fun of South Street is only a short walk away. There is a large self-park garage right next door or you can have the valet take your car. You can spend a lot more in the City Center hotels but you will not have the same ambiance and charm as the Omni. Give this hotel a try and you will not be disappointed.

I recently stayed at the Omni with a group of about 30 students who were in Philadelphia to take on some of the wonderful art, history and food. After starting at Redding Station (a great place for a group to grab a bite and have some time to stretch our legs) we checked into the Omni. All but one of the rooms were ready for us late in the afternoon, they upgraded one of our rooms and then had our last room ready within the hour. All in all, impressive for such a large group to check in all a once, all while accommodating other guests. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Good bedding and clean bathrooms. View was decent. Service was wonderful, offers to turn down our bedding, cheerful doormen, and attentive service in the lobby area. A super convenient location and will definitely return.
Coffee in the lobby in the morning was appreciated too!

Stayed at the Omni last month - what a treat! This hotel is truly beautiful! Had a great room with a lovely and big bathroom. Beautiful foyer, lounge, bar on the ground floor. Terrific staff, nothing was any trouble to them. In a great part of town at Chestnut and 4th Street. Close to the old town and just one short block to the liberty bell. We stayed 6 nights and definitely know where we're staying next time! It was terrific!

Really great two night stay. The service, especially the front desk was outstanding. My king suite was luxurious and spacious with an excellent view. The location is fantastic as well, just steps to the liberty bell and other sights. I stopped short of giving this review an "excellent" because there were some misteps, for example, room service forgot my dessert. Also, the hotel is older, and although they have taken steps to update, my tub and sink were very visibly worn. Had a delightful breakfast in the restaurant.
