I have found that a lot of the fancy hotels are just that...fancy and nothing else. I was pleasantly suprised with Loews. The staff was incredibly friendly, the bar in the hotel was great, the food menu was unique and very good, the rooms were comfortable and the location is excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, whether it be leisure or business. I was here for 7 days on business....and I would go back anytime.
FYI, a couple of the Philadelphia Phillies call this hotel home when they're playing in town, and they also have their families stay here when visiting. That should say it all.

I have been staying at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel several times a month since 2005 and, from Spring 2010 forward I have noticed a decline in service, amenities and cleanliness of this hotel. The staff used to be polite, friendly and helpful, now curtness, unwillingness to assist and occasional rudeness appear to be the norm. A few years ago the rooms underwent a complete overhaul...new decorations and bed linens and updated televisions and alarm clock systems and the addition of wireless . It was a huge improvement, however, it seems that the hotel has not kept up with the regular maintenance. Since the Spring of 2010 I have experienced the following problems at the Loews Philadelphia hotel: wireless internet not working properly (although problem resolved after spending, on average, 30 min on the phone with technical support), room telephone will not allow me to dial an outside line, not receiving my YOU FIRST amenity upon check-in, general problems with the various hotel room from dirty bathtub, toilet not working properly, broken lights, broken coffeemaker and on one occasion, brown streaks on the bedsheets. The hotel was quick to respond when a problem was reported and were willing to remedy the situation. Problems with room service, several times my orders were incorrect when received. Hotel was responsive when notified of the situation. Rude staff members in the club level breakfast.

Positive of this hotel are: staff are generally helpful. I have never had any issues with the front desk staff, bellhops or doorman. The gym is spacious with modern equipment and the staff are professional and upbeat.

Negatives: Aside from what is mentioned above, if you have a room close to the elevator banks, you will hear noises all night long, from the elevator dinging to people talking as they embark and disembark.

Once a hotel that provided impeccable service, the Loews is going down hill fast. They absolutely must seek to improve or they will begin losing business to the surrounding properties!

There was a Portuguese/Filipino looking girl behind the bar, great conversations, wish I remembered her name, I own a bar down in Charleston s.c.,if I had a bartender w/ her class & beauty I'd do everything in my power to keep her around.we had a great stay, will be back, the night shift lady @ the spa spoke to us rather rudely though

Several reviews have mentioned this hotel being run down. Though the lobby and hallway carpets need to be cleaned or replaced, this hotel is otherwise quite nice looking.

Pros: 1. Excellent in-room coffee from a Keurig coffee maker (with real half & half). 2. Lovely lobby, elegantly decorated for Xmas. 3. A really great staff - friendly and hard-working. 4. A nice, clean room.

Cons. 1. We were given a room with 2 double beds - we called down and asked for a room with a Queen or King and were told there were none left. Hotels must know that there aren't any couples who want to sleep in a double bed. Plus the comforter was too small for the bed. 2. Add to this the fact (as mentioned in other reviews) that you can hear everything in the hallway (talking, doors closing) and you end up with some sleep quality problems.

If you're not noise sensitive, you may be very happy here.

My new favorite Hotel in Philadelphia, my first visit was for business, and I now return for pleasure.
The rooms are amazing, the hotel itself is set prefectly in center city, and the resturant is great.
Nitelife is amazing, so close to Kimmel, South Street, and the Reading Terminal

I've never seen a hotel designed like this one, very contemporary but upscale decor. The building used to house a bank headquarters and there are still some aspecs of the bank on display- very cool. There are also Cartier clocks on display- an employee told me that they were designed by Cartier himself when the building was built in the 20s-30s. The most impressive thing though was how friendly the staff was- this is truly astounding. EVERY single employee i passed stopped to say hi and asked if I needed anything.
the rooms are quality, not amazing, but nice and the beds are very comfortable. There was not one problem with the experience for a 2 day stay. Very recommendable.

A friend and I did a road trip through PA and made time to stay in Philly for just one night. I was able to get a GREAT rate at the Loews and we loved it, but wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it more. It's a GREAT location! Right across the street from the Reading Market which is awesome! Get the Amish pretzels and lemonade...to die for! It's a good walk down to South St. where a lot of the nightlife is, but you walk right past the liberty bell and other sights, some cute old neighborhoods too! Hotel is very modern, the bar was happening, room was pretty spacious, big bathroom, very clean, good view of city, and amaxingly comfortable beds! I was a bit surprised that the employees didn't have more reccommendations of the city though...especially local stuff. Take the Night Bus Tour though...entertaining and educational!
The one negative was the "business center"...which tried to charge $10 for 3 minuted of internet...and printing fees!! Not worth it!
