Lots of wit mixed with intriguing facts on this tour. It's not just about the food, either, though there's a bonanza concerning the belly. The market is a noisy and bustling place, wonderfully colorful. Plus, you can get some samples of the delicacies from some of the many vendors. And if you're in town on a rainy/snowy day, the terminal is a great place to get out of the weather. Visit is also a nice change-up if you're getting overwhelmed by the national history sites.

Excellent tour. Guide was funny, factual, offbeat. Good storyteller, yummy food. I wanted to do it twice.

Guide Carolyn Wyman gives an informative and fun tour of historic Reading Terminal Market . She uses props to illutrate tales from Philadelphia history, and arranges for free samples of food for the group. Tour takers learn a lot about the former train terminal, the history of the market, current vendors, and Philadelphia food history. I recommend it for visitors as well as Philadelphians.

My family and I recently visited Philadelphia for the first time, with just a few hours to spend in the city, and we happened upon this fabulous and inexpensive food tour led by Carolyn Wyman. We simultaneously enjoyed a very concise and entertaining introduction to Philadelphia's history and some very delicious (and unusual) food. They say the stomach is the pathway to the heart--this tour is an excellent way to discover the heart and soul of Philadelphia.

The tour really oriented me to the market. The market is full of may different and colorful places to eat and is packed with people and the tour sorted it all out. The guide was knowledgable, and explained about all the different vendors: history of the vendors and their stalls, different kinds of food available, history of the cheese steak wars, etc.. The tour lasted about an hour, and was not overly long, but hit all the highlights of the market. This tour gives the best overview of the market.
