“Surprisingly interesting - from someone not really interested in cars.”
Reviewed May 18, 2010

Rainy day with 5 boys, went on TripAdvisor, and located this - it was beyond wonderful - they were doing a Television interview with the owner, and asked us to be quiet, which, with 5 boys was surprisingly easy! And then there was the world's most expensive car, hidden behind black curtains, shipped in from CA for photographing - we were able to peak in an opening and see it! All the boys really had a great time!

“Great Museum for the Car Racing Fan”
Reviewed July 6, 2008

Simeone Museum opened in mid-July 2008. The Museum contains sixty-five cars ranging from a 1909 American Underslung to a 1975 Alfa Romeo 33-TT-12 with an emphasis on sport cars. For the most part, cars are presented in dioramas depicting different eras in motor racing. Among others, there are sections on the Targa Florio, Mille Miglia, Sebring, Watkins Glen and LeMans. In addition, there is a small section on historic NASCAR racing.

Of particular note is the 1964 Cobra Daytona Coupe (CSX2287), part of the Bonneville Salt Flats section. This was the first of the Daytona Coupes and holder of numerous international speed records set by Craig Breedlove and others after the car was retired from competitive road racing. This car has not been in the public light until recently and is a real treat.

Other sections of note included a tribute to Americans at LeMans featuring examples of the winning Fords from the 1960's as well as earlier pioneers from the 1920's (Stutz & Dupont).

The Winner's Circle section contains five cars from five different countries and five different eras, each a winner of a major international race. To see them all together and very well displayed is impressive.

Admission was $12 for adults and there is a small gift shop. Vending machines provide food on the second floor of the Museum in the snack bar. A small sitting area faces a screen that shows an Italian film on the history of the Mille Miglia.

It may take you a little while to find the Museum as it is in an industrial park near the Airport. The staff seemewd very friendly.
