I absolutely loved this hotel, the rooms are gigantic and well furnished and the staff are very friendly. I have stayed in single rooms in some UK hotels that were the same size as the bathroom here !!! There is a real ambience of cultured charm and it is impeccably furnished and decorated. The location is perfect for exploring Philadelphia too and surrounded by lots of great night life. They bring a small basket of breakfast good to you, orange juice, muffins, that kind of thing and its included in the price.

My only small negative, I dropped something the rolled under the bed and it was filthy down there, really the whole room was absolutely sparkling clean and never would have noticed this except for the need to lie on the floor and look.

Overall an absolutely fantastic place to stay!

Room Tip: They provide ear plugs but the rooms at the back are very quiet, don't know if needed elsewhere...

Since I was going to be in Philadelphia Thurs & Fri at the Convention Center, I decided to stay in the city rather than commute in both days. The location was great, I was at an event down the street at the Curtis Institute of Music and this was very convenient and walking distance. They offer discounted parking which is great for the city (no onsite parking) and free room service breakfast. Coffee/tea in the lobby 24/7. With a one night stay, I didn't get to use a lot of the amenities and services but if I need to stay again, it will be here.

I love staying at boutique hotels, and The Independent didn't disappoint. The location is spectacular and well within walking distance to hip restaurants, galleries and cool stores. For a bit longer stroll, it was easy to get to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Reading Terminal Market. Our room was one of the best we've ever been in with the old wood floors, comfy bed and ultra cool bathroom with brick on the walls. It was a bit noisy in the morning, but they provided ear plugs and honestly it didn't bother us a bit. The front desk staff was very helpful. The continental breakfast was a very nice touch and helped get us fueled each day for our adventures.

Hotel is within walking distance of everything. Staff are very attentive and room was beautiful. Bed and pillows were very comfy. We got the romance package which was a great value. Microwave and mini fridge are nice for eating up leftovers.

This was our second stay and again we were impressed by the friendliness of the staff. During a snow emergency, when there were few cabs, two staff members hiked up to the main drag and hailed us a cab...we also liked being so close to Little Nonna's delicious food.

The Independent is a very pleasant hotel near the hub of performing arts in Philadelphia. The staff (we met two different people at the front desk) were very welcoming and I am sure that if we had needed anything, they would have been very gracious. (Since we were only there one night, we didn't ask for anything.) The room is not huge, but perfectly adequate. The bathroom is huge, and aesthetically pleasing. The bed is very comfortable. The included continental breakfast is delivered to your room, and ours arrived at the appointed time. As a coffee addict, I have only one small suggestion: Having the Keurig coffeemaker is great, but it would have been nice to have more than one cup of coffee. If you can provide at least four (caffeinated) cups, that would be terrific. All in all a very satisfactory, if brief, stay.

Room Tip: We had a great room on the top floor, north side. It was initially very quiet, since it doesn't...

We had a wonderful stay, again, at The Independent in Philadelphia, while visiting the Philadelphia Flower Show and Barnes Museum this weekend. We especially appreciated the flexibility of the management in letting us shorten our trip due to an impending snow storm. Even though the booking was dependent on a two night stay, they honored our wish to leave a day early to get home before the storm, and allowed us to keep our same ‘special’ rate with parking. Nick, the afternoon/eve front desk person could not have been nicer and more accommodating. We even got an upgraded room which was lovely. We would definitely stay again at this very nice and well located hotel with excellent front desk service.

Room Tip: our room on the 4th floor was nice, quiet and nicely dark at night with the shades drawn.
