“Great gem of Phila!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

We dropped in for our first time, the girls at the door were very helpful. The beer was very good and we took the tour(Mike gave the tour, great guy) and enjoyed that as well. We didn't try the food but I hear its very good, They also all low a gourmet food truck to park out front if you want something when the kitchen closes. Had a great time.

“Excellent Beer - What Else Do You Need?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

Really enjoyed our visit to Yards over the weekend. Went on a great tour with Ian who was very knowledgable and funny as well. Had a few free samples while on the tour and then tried a flight of the "Ales of the Revolution" afterwards. Enjoyed them all, especially the Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale. I liked it so much I even bought a growler for home. I also thought the Saison was quite tasty. Didn't have enough time to try something to eat so we'll have to come back soon and have lunch next time we're there. If you're in the area, make sure you stop in and try a flight!

“The perfect Saturday afternoon hangout.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

I love going to Yards. Not only do they usually have a $25 case special [sometimes of my favorite beer of all time--Yards Brawler], but they also sell great merch, have a great kitchen, and I love their sampler flights. $5 for a flight of different beers is an incredible deal, and they are perfect when paired with their bison chili or bison sandwich. Pool tables and a laid-back atmosphere make this a great Saturday afternoon hang-out spot.

“Cool place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

We arrived too late for the tours but decided to stay and taste some beers. I really didn't like any of the beers but I don't like beer in general. The place was crowded, apparently on days like saturdays food trucks park outside and you can eat and drink there.
They have pool tables and bar games, really enjoyed it. Go with old friends to catch up or celebrate.

“Bottoms up!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

My husband and I headed to Yards after seeing a suggested "day in Philly" tour in a local freebie newspaper. The article suggested starting out at the Prohibition exhibit at the Constitution Center (running through April 2013), then heading to the Philadelphia History Museum to see the History of Brewing in Philly exhibit, before rounding out our trip with a Yards tour. Which is exactly what we did.

We arrived at 2:30 and were given a free sample of their Brawler beer as well as a poker chip for a 3:30 tour. The tours are offered from noon til 4 every half hour, but due to their popularity, you may have to wait an hour to get on a tour. What to do during this wait time? Drink.

My husband managed to try 3 different beers, and I 2, while waiting for the tour. We had already eaten prior to our arrival, but the brewery did offer a small snack menu of chili, soup, and chips and salsa to compliment your beer. Many people were also buying sandwiches at the food truck parked out front and bringing them inside Yards to eat.

Once the tour began, we also were given free samples of their IPA and Brawler beers. Our tour guide, Michael, was hilarious and knowledgeable, which made the tour the highlight of our day in Philly. The tour takes you through the three different areas that make up the warehouse, so you do end up standing (and drinking) throughout most of the tour. Still, Michael's humor and extensive information about beer-making kept us entertained the whole time. This is certainly no tourist trap--they take you through the actual brewery where, once tours are finished, they'll start up the equipment and get back to making beer. And the tour is free, which means the beer samples are free too. Dress warmly in winter months; the warehouse temperature was probably around 40 degrees when we were there in February.
