Worth the trip down to the waterfront. Olympia is very unique, cool hands on exhibits and friendly staff.

“Nice Place To VIsit”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Stopped here on a Thursday around Noon. The weather was rainy and that may have kept some people away, as the place was pretty empty. There are a lot of nice displays and boat models to see. The self guided tour of the submarine and old battleship are great. Staff was friendly and informative. The only drawback as with anywhere in Philly (from my experience) is the parking. We parked in the garage of the Hyatt Hotel, were in the museum about 2 hours and parking was $16. Bathrooms were not the cleanest and could use an upgrade.

“Worth a visit!”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

As part of our weekend to visit the Battleship New Jersey and the SS United States, we took in the museum. Really only heard about it from being a member of the SS United States Conservacy, and that the museum was hosting a special summertime display about her.

On the first level the museum has a section on Delaware River disasters-even my wife liked it:) There was also a section on Philadelphia's involvement in the slave trade. Further on you find a classic wood boat workshop [yes they are building them!]. Upstairs was the exhibit on the SS United States [which is moored a few blocks down river-you cannot go on but can view it].

Outside is the battleship Olympia and the submarine Becuna. That sub is cramped-how they all got along is amazing [and only a 1 minute shower a week!] The Olympia is a huge contrast to the New Jersey across the river. Minute overall, but the officer's sections were amazingly huge and well decorated-like the parlor of a mansion.

Whether you are a family, single, or a couple, both the battleship New Jersey and the museum are a must for any area visit-you will not be disappointed, even the wife/girlfriend will have a good time.

“Very interesting, especially the Becuna submarine.”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

I visited the museum because they were having an exhibition regarding the SS United States. The museum itself is OK. The exhibits are interesting, but nothing earth shattering. The best part of the museum are the two vessels that you can explore - the Becuna submarine and the Olympia. Both are very interesting, but the Becuna is a must see. You really admire submariners after going on board! The museum is definitely worth the visit and the reasonable fee.

“So fun!”

My dad's a lover of anything boat related so we went here and let me say it was money well spent. Just be careful of what day you go because of school trips (midweek is the worst because of those)
