“One of the finest museums we have ever seen!”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

After we had covered most of Philadelphia's historical venues, we took a break and went to the Seaport Museum. We have only one word: Wow! Everything about the museum was first-rate -- the location, the building and particularly the exhibits. The breadth of information covered was immense -- it is obvious that the director is very multi-faceted, and even though we spent most of the day there, we could have stayed longer! The museum was a combination of well presented information, things to touch and move, snippets of interesting movies and information and volunteers working on things such as actual boat building and model boats. Besides the museum, there is a renovated ship from the late 1800's and a WWII submarine to tour. This is truly a museum designed for all ages; it was a fabulous way to spend the day!

“independence seaport museum”

Today we visited the museum. We had just two hours and it wasn't enough time to see properly the museum and the ships.Museum itself is very intresting, very children oriented but at the same time adults can learn a lot of intresting details about american history and shipping. Parking is in nearby Hayatt hotel 24 dolar, but if you will bring parking card to museum you will receive 12$ discount. Very recomended place for families.

“Great Museum”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

I visited the Museum, USS Olympia, and USS Becuna all for $12. The Olypmia is wonder and the first modern battleship used in the Spanish American War. It was also used for Teddy Roosevelet's gunboat diplomacy. The Becuna is a WWII submarine. It is very close quarters with lots of steps and extremely narrow passageways in the submarine. The museum concentrated on the anniversary of the the War of 1812, boating in the area, and ship building and preservation. Well worth a look and right next door to my hotel, Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing.
