This is probably a better attraction for families with young children but for me it wasn't worth the time and money. The exhibits are tired, dusty, and in need of renovations.

We loved the museum and all the hands on activities they had going (we visited on a Saturday). Staff was very friendly, and the museum had some really interesting exhibits.

This was a great day trip. To start off we ate at the cafe which had decent food and friendly staff. Next we went to the area with all the live animals and got to touch a tortoise. next we watched a presentation on a turkey vulture named Spirit, and headed to the little butterfly garden which is lovely. We saw the Dinos and the gifts hop we got lost in, it was so cool! Overall great experience. GREAT FOR KIDS

We originally came for the dinosaur fossils and the special program going on, but had time to go through much of the museum. It was obvious the families with younger children were having a great time, and a bit to our surprise, so were all of us, including one son who had not wanted to come. The fossils had good explanations, and my old kids loved to be in the video with the dinosaurs on the large wall screen,. But they should have made it for taller "kids", too, my six foot 18 year old had to crouch to be in screen! In the animatronic section with interactive activities. They liked the small tablets, and the spot where they pushed a pump to make a facsimile of a specific dinosaur sound, sorry I can't remember which one. The butterfly section was especially enjoyable, and the young docent very willing to share info when she knew we were interested. I was amazed to read an adult said they were bored, but maybe they are not science oriented or were having a bad day. We all said we learned things, and that comes from parents who were both science majors and college students who are either in a science major or taken a lot of sciences in school, and still like to read about new discoveries. My adult kids even liked seeing what the little ones were doing in "digs" and wished the people who worked with the fossils were there to talk with, but we were there on a Sunday afternoon during the holiday season. The only slower area for me was a stuffed mammal area, but even there they had some interesting specimens. Only frustrating part was we tried to get a drink about 10 minutes before closing and they had locked up the drink fridges in the cafeteria, offered to make a fountain drink, and found it was turned off, too, they said. The cafeteria workers directed us to the table area next door to use the machines, but those were out. Luckily saw a water fountain near the exit as I had a somewhat dehydrated son, so that helped. In all a very enjoyable visit, one son saying it was his favorite museum in Philadelphia (I think it was the dinosaurs!)

It is a medium size museum that fits kids 10 or younger. It has live animals that make the kids excited. The exhibit has right amount of information for that age group. The displayed specimens are the best among all other natural science museums we visited.
