“It was worth a visit”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

The center itself was ok. Some nice information on history in the surrounding buildings. All the info is on a touch screen IPAD which can be challenging for those not tech savvy. As this is where you get the free tickets for the Independence Hall tour, we met a very unfriendly representative from the parks service. He could not tell us anything about the area, however down the hall the representative from Big Bus Tours was very helpful. Also the map that they provided with their stops was enormously more helpful than the map we received from the train terminal! Just a suggestion to grab one of those maps since it has all the main roads, is easy to read, and it is very clear where the points of interest are. Other than those two points, you could probably skip this and not be at too much of a loss. On the positive side, it is free and has A/C for the summer months.

“Great historical experience!”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We had a half day available in Philadelphia, and weren't sure exactly what we could do. So, I contacted the visitor center for ideas. They not only were immensely helpful, but the building itself was a great experience, from the convenience of the parking, to the food court, to the helps desk, the store, etc. etc. Everything we wanted to see of historical significance, in the short time we had, they outlined for us on a map. We were able to do everything!
I would highly recommend this brief (4-hour), self-guided walking tour to anyone who would like to learn about, and see personally, amazing history come alive! Besides the parking ($17.00 for 4 hours) we didn't have to pay for anything else but the Betsy Ross house. Great cheese-steaks and other food was available right on the sidewalks. We stopped at a sidewalk cafe and enjoyed a cup of coffee late in the day.
Leaving the city and getting on our way was also easy since they had drawn the route on our map as well.

“Place where you can get help”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Clean and helpful place. Meets expectations when you go to find information about the Indendece Hall and other attractions in Philadelphia. The staff is friendly and attentive. We attended quite well in Spanish.

“Go see the movies!”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

It helps to bring the history alive for the kids. They are not very long, maybe 20 minutes or so. I recommend starting there and then working your way to Independence Hall (and you need to get tickets here for Independence Hall--it's free but to limit the crowds, you get assigned a time)

“Stop here first!”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

I recommend that you stop here first. You get good information and tickets. The staff is very helpful. They also have a lunch counter so you can have a bite and drink to eat before venturing out to see the sites.
