“A nice surprise prior to a day of history”
Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

I usually plan every part of a trip in detail, but for whatever reason decided to not plan our day in the historic part of Philadelphia.

We opted just to go to the visitor center and ask them for tips. The lady and guy who helped us were fantastic. They busted out a map, circled and described the best attractions to see with our time in a logical walking order. They gave us tips to avoid liberty ball crowds, and even tips on where to get Philly cheese steaks (cliche, we know).

Instead of planning out each step of a visit, just let them do the work! I think you need to come here for tickets for independence hall anyways.

“Philadelphia Information”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

Well set up with plenty of information. Some staff appeared more knowledgeable than others about local attractions. Informative free history films occurring whilst we were there.

“Kids learned a lot”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

The kids enjoyed this because their teacher in school talked about it in their history class and then we took them to actually see it was very good for them. They definitely were able to connect the school room history to place. We plan to take them to Valley Forge when they start studying that next year.

“Lots of historical information”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

The Philadelphia Independence Visitor Center is a great place to start your visit to the the National Historical Park. Take the time to watch the videos and stroll around to see the various displays. Pick up free tickets needed for Independence Hall and don't forget to checkout the Liberty Bell. Philadelphia is a fantastic city and this is one of its treasures.
