“Lots of walking and lots of information!”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

The visitors center is the place to begin your journey in Philadelphia. Here you can find out what's happening, where, when and how. Buy your tickets here and then go for the tour at Independence Hall which begins across the street. Excellent tour guides explain the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Some explanations are given while standing, others while seated. There are some steep flights of stairs to climb in one instance. Visiting this landmark American Treasure is very informative and interesting for both adults and children. There is a security checkpoint before entering the buildings, as is everywhere now , for our safety.

“One stop shopping”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

We enjoyed the film, got our tickets to Independence Hall, walking info - and could have gotten tickets to many other tours and attractions around Philadelphia. A convenient stop for a bite to eat, and for parking. A wonderful service.

“First place to visit”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

The staff here are very helpful and friendly and are great for tips about what to see, what to do, where to eat and tours to do. This should be your first stop in this great city.

“Good place to begin your visit to Philadelphia”

This center can give you information about all of the things to see around Philly. They will give you maps and help you plan a day or a weekend in the city. The staff is very helpful as well.

Make sure that if you are visiting during the summer, you find out about the story benches. They are scattered throughout the historic area, and you can plan your walking tour using the benches as your destination. The city hires actors to play the part of a colonial character. and they tell true, sometimes amusing, and truthful stories from our early history.

“Start here when visiting the historic areas”
Reviewed April 29, 2012

This is where you get tickets to Independence Hall (the 30 minute free tour for which you must have tickets). There are also bathrooms, a gift shop, a little theatre that shows informational movies, a helpful info desk, etc.
