We visited Zahav and were simply bowled over by the experience. Because the main hall had no open tables we were led into the private area, which has four tables or so, and had the experience of being served by five people! The waiter, the supervising waitress, two busboys and a woman who kept appearing to fill our glasses with water. Never had service like that. As we finished our laffa, and had more hummus to eat, one of the waiters appeared with another laffa, fresh from the oven.

And the food - we chose the Tayim fixed price menu and were delighted with the innovative and intriguing combinations of flavors and ingredients. By the end of the meal we were sated and very satisfied. And the $39 per person price was worth every penny.

Excellent on all counts.

This place was amazing from start to finish. The ambience is very nice, dimly lit, perfect for any occasion and very roomy with high ceilings and open. There was a total of 4 of us and we all got the Tayim which is a pre fixe for $39 per person and included hummus, 2 mezze and one larger portion and dessert! Everything we had was spectacular. From the fried cauliflower to the grilled duck hearts, it was all great. The food just kept coming, by no means did you leave hungry. The red wine from Lebanon which was recommended was exceptional. We ALL agreed this is the place to come back again for another great meal!

Enjoyed an amazing dinner with my girlfriend last weekend for our first anniversary. We showed up a little early for our reservation, but that gave us some time to have a couple of deliciously prepared cocktails at the bar. The bartender was top-notch, engaging with customers though clearly slammed. At the bar we noticed how incredibly well organized the staff was. The place is a well oiled machine. Our table was ready right in time and our server quickly convinced us to go with the Mezze option. Glad we did. The Turkish hummus was a perfect start. Not all of the "salads" were winners for me, but the puréed beet dish definitely was. The rest of the dishes were a blur, but we raved at each and every one. So many bold flavors. The cook even prepared us a small plate off-menu (his take on a corned beef sandwich), having heard it was our anniversary. Very much appreciated. For one of our desserts, we thankfully ordered the basbousa. It was out of this world and was even better since we had it with a complimentary glass of champagne. We must've interacted with a dozen members of the staff throughout the evening (we were there for close to three hours) and no less than eight said happy anniversary. I've got to say that this was the most professional restaurant staff I've ever seen. Will certainly stop back in if I make it to Philly again.

Israeli haute-cuisine: just the idea earns points - but then they really pull it off as well. A lot of Tapas style plates w/ the possibility of getting the tasting menu.. If you get the higher-end tasting menu ($45/person) you get a shared lamb dish that is FANTASTIC and huge - it lasted for a whole 'nother dinner the next day. A really fun night out - great drinks - nice pickles to start. Give it a try!

As the title says, you've got to have the duck hearts. They had a very mild briny taste at the beginning that became floral as one chewed. It seems that I was eating meaty roses. It is difficult to explain, but not to experience. I'll definitely be back for one of the two tasting menus. Reservations are recommended, but if you get there early, you won't have a problem getting a table for two.
