How many times do you have the opportunity to visit the place that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin went to church? The history of Christ Church is fascinating. They have docents inside the building that are readily available and I would encourage you to use their services as they really make the Church's history come alive.

“Person at counter”
Reviewed June 24, 2014 via mobile

Church was amazing. "Gentlemen" at the counter was very rude to my brother and his wife. If we didn't leave one of us would have decked him.

Attended service where George Washington and Benjamin Franklin worshipped. Very lovely - one of my favorite experiences!

“Visit the church of the nations founders”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

Originally I wasn't going to visit Christ Church (not much of a church person) but I decided to tour it for the historical perspective. A very friendly member of the church gave me a tremendous amount of history about the church - in the old days the pews were "owned" and were sold like other assets. An added bonus - my relative, Robert Morris, is buried right outside of the church.

“A different perspective of "going to church"”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

I stopped by Christ Church so the 3 teens with me could gain an appreciation of what it was like going to church in the colonial days - from the pew taxes to the standing to the 5-hour sermons. The kids liked sitting in George Washington's pew, and learned a lot about the early American church from the docent. It's also a gorgeous building and a nice opportunity to sit down for a few minutes during all the walking and touring.
