A stunning building made more so by the knowledge that Washington and the other founding fathers prayed here for guidance as they labored to form a new nation and a new form of government. Beautiful and peaceful retreat in a bustling city.

The best NPS guides. Just one question and they can tell you more than you can imagine about the history of this church.

We went to service at Christ's Church and were absolutely stunned at how much we liked it. Besides locating the pews where George Washington and Ben Franklin sat, the overall historic significance of the church was phenomenal. The biggest surprise was an outstanding sermon by a young lady minister with a great personality.

Sat in George Washington's pew and had a guide well versed in the almost unknown stories of the parishioners. Christopher Wren could have been the architect. Lovely common outside grounds. The cemetery is a few blocks away.

It was neat to take my daughters in to see where George Washington and the first Congresses worshiped during their time in Philadelphia. Interesting that his "pew box" was larger than the others. It is unique in that you can see the crypts of people buried years ago! The church has been kept up well, considering its age.
They do ask for a donation and you cannot get into their burial grounds a few blocks away (where Ben Franklin is buried) without paying a small fee. There is also an adequate souvenir gift shop whose prices are comparable to the National Park's Gift Shop's prices. Therefore we bought our souvenirs at the church to support their preservation society, but did not donate.
