This is a don't miss if you love American history. You will se the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Get there early to get tickets for the tour. The building is 100 yards away from historic building in tourist welcome center. Plan on spending two hours minimum to see all historic sites.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? All Americans and visitors to America should visit our birthplace of liberty. NPS employees are always helpful and ambassadors of our National Shrines and Parks.

Even from the outside this is a very important piece of history and a must see for all who visit Philly. I did not have time to go on the tour but I did get some good photo's. It's impressive that this building has withstood the test of time, outlasting British occupancy during the Revolutionary War as well as modern buildings springing up in the surrounding area. There is a charge for parking in this area. I parked on 9th by Pat's King of Steak and Geno's. It was ~ 1.5 miles of walking but the walk consisted of an Outdoor Market as well as sightseeing opportunities through 250 year old residential areas.

This is a historically significant site, primarily for the USA but also for the UK. It's a must see when you visit Philly. You can only visit the buildings by going on the tour, which is free. The rangers are very knowledgeable and give a very interesting presentation during the tour. However, I guess it depends on which ranger takes you on the tour, the one we had was excellent, but at least one other tripadvisor comment has said that the presentation was not very informative.

When I was there there was a large peaceful demonstration outside the hall by the Ukrainian expat population demonstrating against the Ukrainian government and their treatment of demonstrators in the Ukraine. Speaks volumes I guess about the powerful symbolic relevance of these buildings.
