We were doing renovations on our house and needed a place to stay that was close to the house. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was beautiful. The breakfast was very good. Everything was perfect.

We liked the mismatched floral china in the Bombay Room at breakfast, the prints of old Philadelphia scenes, the quirky ceramic piece in the lobby, and the cafe with seating on the porch.
Right around the corner is a mini Reading Terminal-type market. Germantown Avenue here is great for strolling: little shops, restaurants, a bakery with an adjunct selling Bassett's ice cream.
The hotel gave me the number of a limo driver who picked me up at the airport very early and came at 5:30am for the return trip. This is a small hotel with great beds and bathrooms.

Dear Marguerite B,

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Chestnut Hill Hotel. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. The Hotel is filled with historic photographs, documenting the history of the Hotel and the area. It is almost like a mini museum; guests can wander each floor and learn many interesting facts. The decorative ceramic head planter in the lobby is from Ceramiche Dell'Artigianato Siciliano Manago in Sicily, Italy. The market you referred to is called the Market at the Fareway. There are 15 vendors in the Market, offering a variety of options. The Market is open Thursday and Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm, Saturday from 8:00am-5:00pm, and now Sundays from 9:00am-3:00pm. You can visit the website, marketatthefareway.com, to learn more. Charles Battle is our driver and we recommend him to everyone who stays at the Hotel. He is very dependable and we are happy to give out his contact information to any guest who asks. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

This hotel is situated in the outskirts of Philly with wonderful shops and of course the Iron Hill Brewery. Parking can be difficult as the car park is shared by the local market but the lovely attendant will make sure hotel guests get a space. The entrance to the hotel from the car park is beautifully landscaped and inviting. We received a warm welcome and found a sofa, table and chairs with chess set laid out in the corridor outside our room. Our bed was comfortable and the room was very clean and bright. Breakfast was the usual buffet affair BUT each table was laid with cutlery and real china so that your morning tea/coffee seemed to taste that much better. This hotel really does add those 'little touches' that make an ordinary meal seem so much more. It is because of these touches (and loads more) that make me give this hotel 5 stars - will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Dear LoveToTravelOften,

We are thrilled to hear you had such a wonderful stay at the Chestnut Hill Hotel. The owners take great pride in the details and we are happy the small touches made your experience that much more enjoyable. The Iron Hill Brewery, located just two blocks from the Hotel, is a great restaurant with an extensive menu where you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a beer made in-house. The chess set, sofa, table, and chairs you mentioned are located on our second floor, right next to the business center. Next year, there will be board games and a ping pong table and lawn chess set outside of the Market. We look forward to you staying with us during your next trip.

I was in the area on business, so the hotel was chosen for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience in this small hotel: lovely, knowledgeable staff, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing accommodations, such as the lovely china at breakfast.
I'd be happy to stay there again.

Visiting my sister and brother in law who live outside of Philly, my husband and I stayed at The Chestnut Hill Hotel. This historic and charming inn is located pitch-perfectly near little shops and plenty of restaurants with divers menus. The staff was professional yet warm, and our room was nice, if tight, with a renovated bath and high end toiletries. The pricepoint we think is right one... it's not inexpensive, though no exorbitant either; the realness of the place deserves to command a few bucks. Try to stay here, you'll be charmed as were we.

Room Tip: (Sorry, don't know enough to comment.)

The Chestnut Hill hotel was a fantastic place to spend our anniversary. The room was modern and beautiful, and the location was perfect! Germantown is so charming, and truly felt like a city block in Europe (without the craziness of Center City Philadelphia). There are so many cute shops, bakeries, and restaurants! If we ever end up in Philadelphia again, we'll definitely return to Chestnut Hill.

The Chestnut Hill Hotel was our "home away from home" for 3 weeks. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating to our needs. We stayed in one of the suites (206) that suited our needs (although could use some updating from a decor standpoint a bit dark) and we also spent one night is 503 ( a kitchenette) that was large and bright (it would be nice if they added a coffee pot). They are a pet friendly hotel which was also very nice and a surprise as we did have our pet with us. The neighborhood was delightful to explore for food and shopping. The Marker in back is also an added bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the post office seem to be brighter and newly appointed. The Carriage House rooms are "...

Dear Italiangirljm,
Thank you for choosing the Chestnut Hill Hotel as your home away from
home. All of the rooms have been renovated in the past 2 years; we
are sorry to hear that you found your room to be dark. Thank you for
your feedback about the coffee pot. We have been hearing more and
more from our guests that they would like a coffee pot in the room.
As a result, the owner has recently decided to add coffee pots to each
room in the near future. We are pleased to hear you were able to take
advantage of the neighborhood and the Market at the Fareway. We look
forward to having you stay with us again.
