The hotel was very nice looking, and all the people very helpful. We each got a warm, delicious walnut chocolate chip cookie - the most amazing cookie I've ever had - when we checked in.

The room was clean and comfortable with modern-looking decor. There was a small coffee maker, but no hair dryer. The sink in the bathroom had a beautiful dark wood base. Bathroom was a good size.

The bath towels were big!! Most hotels have those stupid tiny scratchy towels. These were adult-sized towels and not as scratchy as most.

Wireless is not exactly free, but there are some workarounds to not have to pay for it.

The gym was nice and had high quality machines and equipment.

Great stay overall.

Stayed at the Doubletree as I was speaking at a conference being held at the hotel.

Getting there from the airport:

• The hotel web site does not mention that there is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (not operated by the hotel but by a private concern). The name is Lady Liberty shuttle and you access it from the “ground transportation” area. Ask the information desk there and they will direct you. The cost is $10/’person/one way that you pay the driver. I suggest you bring exact change. To return to the airport, just sign up for the time you want with the bell man and arrive in the lobby about 5 minutes before the scheduled time.

• If you do not do take the shuttle, you can take the train into the Market East Station ($7/person/one way) [PS this is where Reading Terminal Market is]. Follow the signs from the baggage claim area to the train. Payment is to the conductor on the train. Again, plan on having exact change. Once at Market East Station, you will have to walk 0.6 miles to the hotel. Not a difficult walk that may seem longer if you are dragging a suitcase.

• If you want a taxi the cost is about $24 and if you use Uber it is about $60.

• If you are driving, beware of all of the one way street. Also, if you are turning left pedestrians have the right of way so you have to wait for everyone to cross the street before you can turn. There is a fee for parking ($25/night self-park; $38/night valet parking)

Accessibility: the hotel is accessible for individuals with mobility concerns, and/or who utilize a wheelchair. The lobby is on street level without stairs, and all areas of the hotel are accessible by elevators. When making reservations ask for an accessible room.

Check in was quick and efficient (perhaps because we are Hilton Honors members). The warm chocolate chip cookie was very good and really hit the spot.

Our room was in the corner on the 19th floor. Our room was an odd shape with a “hallway” of about 10 feet with the closet in it opening onto good size area, with a couch as well as a work desk, a dresser and a queen size bed. The bathroom was slightly small but very serviceable. The bed was comfortable, with four very large pillows, and a comforter. (Caution: do not accept any room that ends in -10 [like 1910] unless it is the only room in the hotel. That room is between the four elevators and anyone who has had the misfortune of staying in that room will tell you there is no way you sleep because you are listening to the elevator all night.)

We did not eat at the hotel. The menu prices were quite high, especially for breakfast and for drinks. We did have a glass of wine on our last night and the cost was more than for an entire bottle at the liquor store (in the $9-11 range for what was about a ½ glass of wine). There are a lot of great restaurants within easy walking distance so it was very easy to get a good meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) at a reasonable cost.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. We interacted with the concierge, the bell men, the housekeeping staff and the front desk staff and all were pleasant and very helpful, including giving us a late (1 PM) check out.

The hotel is in a GREAT location, on what is also called the “Avenue of the Arts.” One can walk to any number of theaters, as well as all of the major tourist attractions in the Center City/Rittenhouse Square/Washington Square area, as well as to a huge number of restaurants, pubs and night spots. If not interested in walking, there is a metro station immediately next to the hotel, and because of the location, cab rides to major areas are quite reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the highest floor avaliable for the best view. DO NOT accept a room ending in -10 as those rooms are between the elevators.

Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly. Pool area was a little yucky. But, it was indoor so sometimes they aren't very nice. Spacious and clean. Room service is expensive. Everything is in walking distance. Nice downstairs bar. Loved the cookies on the way in.

Great location in downtown Philly, convenient to conference center and good restaurants. No airport shuttle was a downside, but cab service is reasonable. Clean, comfortable room. Didn't use internet, so can't comment on that. Breakfast was good, plus there are very good breakfast spots nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Rooms ending in --10 are by the elevator, and despite the gorgeous view (if you're high up as I was) really should not be rented out except for $25/ night or by nightowls--there appears to be no sound proofing and every casual conversation patrons have while exiting or entering elevators sound slike they are in the room with you. Not good if you're trying to get some sleep--even the jaw dropping view cannot compensate for that! Shame on Hilton for renting these rooms out without warning patrons and deeply discounting them.

A minor complaint:
Rooms was clean. Wifi was supposed to be free for Hilton Honors but a run-around conversation with the "customer care" line revealed PIN could only be emailed to me. Since I couldn't get ON email this was clearly not a good solution. Why not text patrons with their PINS? Then it turned out you had to have gold or silver status for free Wifi anyway so I ponied up the $9.95.
