“Great hotel and staff, just lacks entertainment”

We always stay Hilton Class Hotels and latly The Embassy Suites Phila Airport meets our needs perfectly but this Feb. we went back over to Hampton Inn for a last minute stay before flying out. I do not believe that this particular location has the famous "Hampton Inn beds and pillows" but we found it clean and acommodating anyway. The staff is very friendly and inviting.
I will mention the only disappointing features that we are used to (and the reason we stay Hilton, Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites) are, they have no indoor pool or hot tub, no lounge/ bar or managers Reception Cocktail party. The only form of entertainment in the immediate area is a Ruby Tuesday, too cold to walk over, you would need to drive just for a beer or snack and we are not fond of that chain.
They offer coffee (and tea, etc.) in the lobby all night/ 24 hrs? maybe... and that we really do appreciate b/c Embassy Suites does not have any until after 6am and we always need to leave the hotel at 4am. Only problem was that they were removing the pots at 4am to make fresh when we came down (they really should do this at 3) as the 4:05am shuttle people miss out. Thankfully I caught her and she allowed me to pour a cup, we were greatfull!
Nothing negative to say about the place, we would go back.

For future reference; the Hotel does hold a Manager's Reception every Wednesday from 5pm- 7pm with Lite Hors D'oeuvres and Wine. Not a good stay. The heating system whistled all night. I was close to the exit and the outside door did not have a spring hinge and it banged late into the night and started early in the morning. Cleaning staff was great though.

the Hampton provided excellent service Everyone that we came in contact with was very professional and polite The shuttle service to and from the airport is a great convenience The room was very clean There is a breakfast buffett available that was very tasty There was hot coffee and hot water tea or hot chocolate around the clock

We needed a place to stay that was near the Philly airport and looking at the choice of places in the area I was highly skeptical that this place would be to our liking. I was surprised at how great the property was kept, the friendliness of the staff and the comfort of our room(s). Would definitely return!

If you need a place to stay near the airport can't go wrong here. You are 5 minutes away with a gas station near by for those last minute fill ups on that rental car. This is an older Hampton Inn and can be intimidating at first when you realize you are driving through the gates of a fenced in property (perception= I may get robbed!) but once you put that out of your mind, you realize it is a property that is meeting a need ... close, convenient airport access! I probably would not stay at this hotel for nothing more than that reason! Did not have the complimentary breakfast but the room is quite small.

We stayed at this hotel for easy travel out of Philadelphia airport. The hotel staff was great, rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast sufficient. The shuttle service was prompt on drop off and pickup from the airport, even at 1:30 a.m. Parking area was safe and shuttle dropped us off right at our vehicle. Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed in this hotel over the New Year period. The shuttle from the airport was quick and efficient. The reception staff I encountered during my stay were all friendly and approachable. Surprised that none of them knew about the safe deposit box system available at the hotel reception that was mentioned in the hotel guide in the room. It took me 3 requests to staff before the box was made available to me. The room I had was clean and comfortable with a king bed, sofa, writing desk, microwave and fridge. The TV was the usual LG flat panel you get in almost any decent hotel room nowadays. For reasons the hotel couldn’t explain there was no ESPN2 even though a channel was reserved for it. Really annoying as everything I wanted to watch was being shown on that channel. A previous reviewer has mentioned how low the toilet pan was to the floor and they are not exaggerating! If you have mobility problems or are tall you will have issues with it. It is definitely the lowest seating toilet I have ever come across. There is a SEPTA train station (Eastwick) close to the hotel that will get you into downtown within 20 minutes for $5. The shuttle will drop & pick you up from the station if you arrange with reception. The train also goes in the other direction to the airport. You can walk from the station to the hotel in around six minutes. However, beware part of the walk will have to take place on the edge of the road as there is no sidewalk for the first bit and the traffic is coming past at 50mph plus. I would be extremely reluctant to make the journey at night. Breakfast was a combination of all the things you would expect at an establishment like this. They had hot option of eggs, bacon and sausages. There was a waffle maker and a selection pastries and bread/bagels. The juices came from one of those machines where they mix them with water. Sometimes they are fine and other times they are terrible. There is a Ruby Tuesday right next door offering the usual stuff they do. I never spotted any other dining options nearby. If fast food is your thing then you will have to drive or order over the phone. As with a previous reviewer, I was present on the night of the bomb scare. It was not handled well by the staff as we were turned out into the snow by a fire department person with no real information. It was only when we encountered other guests that we worked out we could go to an adjacent hotel. There was also no information or explanation either that night or subsequently. I would say that this is poor customer service. I disagree that the hotel we sheltered in didn’t make an effort. There appeared to be only one person on duty and she made an effort by making fresh coffee and offering everybody blankets and somewhere to sit. She also came round asking if she would do anything for people and was the one who informed us when we could return to our hotel. It wasn’t an ideal situation but she did try. In my opinion, it was the absence of staff from the Hampton Inn to help out that should be criticised. Overall this is a good hotel for the price I paid. Despite the way they handled the incident, I would still stay at this hotel again. A special mention to houseman Chris who was a really cool and helpful guy.

Room Tip: The recption said to me that even numbered rooms have a fridge and microwave.
