stayed here various times with the whole family. The first time i went was for a mother-daughter weekend, then for the race for the cure sponsored by brystol meyers squibb company. Hotel was excellant and first class quality. i'm a fan of starbucks coffee and was happy to see it in the lobby!! very spacious room and lobby. One of the better marriotts i have stayed in the room was moderate size but good enough to fit 4 people. i liked how the hotel was in the center of everything and in walking distance! Theres even an entryway connected to the hotel to a mall(i'm not sure of the name but it's nice to go for a couple of hours) also you must try Maggianos little Italy directly across from the entrance of the hotel it has amazing family-style italian cusiene. overall stay was enjoyeable and the staff was very informative and helpful would defiantly go back.

I stayed there during a sold-out conference and was completely pleased. GREAT beds, fabulous location, great housekeeping, wonderful room service, amazingly quiet for being so downtown. They were also quite kind and accomodating to a colleague who became ill while there; very much went the extra mile for him (and again, those heavenly beds were handy). I also had one of the best "hot stone massages" I've ever had as a patron in their spa.

Only tiny complaints were that the pool is much too small for a hotel of this caliber; and there are places when one can see the hotel's age. (A little extra caulking in the bathtubs may be called for fairly soon.)

But these are minor quibbles, not dealbreakers. Overall a heavenly refuge for the traveler; I would certainly go again (although after reading other reviews, I will be sure to check PriceLine next time!).

I attended a convention at the Convention Center, and arrived with my wife and 4 year old son.

The staff, in general, were extremely polite, cordial and helpful (although my wife had a bad phone interaction with room service) and really added to the ambience of excellent service at the hotel. The hotel's location is absolutely perfect if you are attending a convention - it is attached to the Convention Center. The Reading Market and Chinatown are close by and provides a good venue for lunch everyday except Sunday.

Check-in was very quick and the front desk staff were very friendly and efficient.

The hotel room was extremely clean and comfortable. A few details were missed on check-in (a coffee maker carafe was missing) but were remedied without having to ask. There was a nice view of downtown from the room.

Valet parking (allowing unlimited entry/exit) was expensive but alternatives were limited.

Room service was prompt, although the person taking the order was rude and the food was mediocre/expensive.

All told, an excellent place to stay, but plan on eating out.

The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. The service
did not match the cost of the room. The staff seemed to be overwhelmed and slow to provide service. The service in the restaurant was poor and the food was of poor quality. After two meals, I opted to take a taxi to other restaurants. I will not attend another convention and stay at this hotel.

Here are the pros:
1. Got the reservation on priceline, I got a great deal with "name your own price." I had no problems at check in. Actually got the room a few hours before their check in time.
2. Nice lady at the concierge desk (even though she couldn't help me with my request) (actually this could be a complaint as well)
3. Very comfortable beds.
4. Starbucks in the lobby!!!!
5. About 10-15 minute walk to Independence Hall attractions.
6. About 5 minutes from Chinatown (we stumbled upon Chinatown, had no idea that Philly had a Chinatown)
7. Hard Rock Cafe right around the corner.

Here are the complaints:
1. The A/C wouldn't really cool the room. Even with the A/C down at 65 degrees, the room didn't feel much cooler than 75. We didn't bother calling the front desk b/c we were tired and prefered to go to sleep than get bothered with someone trying to fix it.
2. Parking sucks! I think it was $20 bucks to park on your own and $35 for valet.
3. It was confusing to get the hotel b/c the address is 1201 Market Street but that's really the back way into the hotel. The actual front entrance is on the other side of the block.

Nice place to stay, but I really wouldn't pay the going rate...it's not worth 350/night; there was no above and beyond service or experience.

Just stayed there for several days on business. The staff is helpful and efficient. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. Housekeeping does a good job.
Hotel is connected to the Convention Center. Has many amenties. Probably the best Convention Center Hotel I have stayed at for some time. Many restaurants and tourist attractions within walking distance.

Be aware that being a Convention Center Hotel some things are pricey. Parking is $35 per night. Their Steakhouse runs $35-50 just for the entree so $200+ per couple is very easy. Drinks average $10 at the bars. They do have a mid-range restaurant (the Grille) that is very good with competitive pricing.

Over-all, upscale and well done. Would definitely stay again.

Upon arrival and with a non smoking reservation, the front desk staff was terribly curt about not having my requested room. I had to pull out my computer and show the clerk my reservation which indicated my request. Suddenly, there was a non smoking room! After arriving to the room I had to request housekeeping to re-clean the bathroom floor which was covered with hair. Nasty!

The bell staff and concierge service was more than satisfactory. They handled my requests efficiently and appeared to get satisfaction from achieving those results.

A HIGE problem with this hotel is actually getting a live person on the phone. When you call the operator and request an extension it seems the call gets lost with music on hold. I held for 18 minutes to never be connected to room service! Definitely a BIG problem!

Philadelphia is a great city to experience the history of our country. The Marriot offers superb access to all the high points!
