We are Gold level Marriott Elite members, staying for a conference. This hotel is in a great location, average conference amenities, below average hotel amenities. The bed was comfortable, TV worked well, in room coffee maker was cheap, no mini bar. We had to call maintenance twice for a running and malfunctioning toilet, but maintenance staff was helpful and friendly. The cleaning crew not as good. The towels smelled like dust, the shower faucet handle kept coming out. Main bar was average, but the sports bar was above average with a good burger. Bartender Aaron was awesome! Hey Marriott, spend some cash to update this hotel in a good location if you want conferences to continue to use your facilities!

spent a weekend here and found the hotel to be very nice if a bit pricey for breakfast. very large hotel situated right in the centre of the city. helpful staff and rooms very nice indeed. air conditioning worked well and something you need in August / September in Philadelphia. would return to hotel if in the Philly area again

Great Location right by Reading Market. Close walking to everything. Room was nice and staff was very friendly. We were here for a conference and the hotel has a pool, good food and a Starbucks on site. The parking was expensive at 48.00 per day but its Philadelphia and thats expected.
The staff was more the accommodating for all our needs.

I give this hotel 5 "stars" for many reasons:
- I rarely notice service/friendliness but everyone, literally EVERYONE was friendly and helpful. An example was I was coming out of my room and the maintenance person (who was painting in the hallway) said immediately, "elevator is this way sir". I've never seen staff so friendly.
- Close to everything; Reading Terminal Market, shopping, & restaurants.
- Good food. NIce lobby bar.
- Starbucks in lobby.
- Room service service charge on 22%. Not bad.
- Comfortable bed.
Are there cons? Yes.
- Rooms, at least mine, need some updating and someone to fix the small stuff; broken tiles, tears in wall paper, small mold spots on ceiling in shower.
- Wifi isn't free. Who doesn't offer free Wifi anymore?

Overall, I'd come back here for a convention or conference. Would I bring my wife here for my anniversary? Maybe.

I stayed at this hotel the first week of March 2014 and was under whelmed by the decor of my room and the amenities . The room had an unusual view but was close to convention center , restaurants, 7-11, Macy's and so much more. Several entrances and exits . Several shops in hotel and a Kinkos , Starbucks etc. The hotel side I stayed on had some dull unattractive carpet in the halls and in my room. The shower did not have a curtain but just the liner, the water pressure was non existent in the sinks and shower. No Mirror above dresser or desk. No refrigerator or microwave., Just not the usual smart elegant look of most Marriott Hotel Rooms that I have grown accustomed to. Needs some decorating

Room Tip: Maybe ask to see the room first , my room was near the 13th St. Side

Spent a night in the hotel and had a fabulous experience for the most part. The drinks at the bar were great! Additionally, the room was clean and spacious, and the BED comfortable and clean! Room 1618 doesn't have a view of the city at all (with the exception of William Penn statue up in the sky). Also, a constant roar could be heard in the distance for most of the night and first thing in the morning (maybe an elevator shaft located nearby or perhaps the subway system).....overall, good stay, definitely will revisit!

Room Tip: "If you want a view of the city from your room, you want to request "

As far as business hotels go, this is decent enough. Room sizes were huge and spacious, with nice views of the streets below.
The downside? There was a snowstorm which meant going outside was basically impossible, and the heating system broke down, meaning the hotel woke up to no hot water or warm air from the heater fan. A nightmare! It took several hours to restore this but in the meantime had to shiver my way around to get dressed and attend a conference downstairs.
I assume this was a one-off and hope other guests do not endure freezing rooms during snow storms again1
