But I was really surprised to have to pay $12.95 for 24 hours of the slow internet offered - $16.95 for the "business" speed - I guess this is not a business oriented hotel. It was clean, bathroom well stocked, the bed was OK - but the pillows seemed like chopped up foam. The TV selection included no international choices... limited selection of restaurants close to the hotel - but the Reading Market is 1 block away for great food choices for breakfast and lunch.
The mariott downtown is in a great location. Its about a 15 minute walk to the Rocky stairs and about the same to Old City and Society Hill area where you will find the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall etc... Bring good walking shoes as its nice to walk and take pictures of all the old buildings and monuments. From the hotel I suggest walking down 12th street towards Chestnut or Walnut, and walk down either of these, much nicer walk then taking Market street.
The Room was clean and modern, I would stay here over the Courtyard Mariott, use Hotels.com to book to book for huge savings, if you have never used Hotels.com you don't know which hotel you get until you confirm but if you set your perameters for 4 stars or better, than you will get this one or another good one downtown. We saved soooo much money, by booking this hotel through a discount site. The bed was so comfortable, staff friendly. There is parking at the hotel but use this site called Parking Panda and you can save 60 % on parking costs, we had a short 5 min walk from the parking garage to the hotel, was worth it.
Didn't use the pool, it was indoor and not very big, and I prefer not to use indoor pools.
The only complaint about the room was that the bathroom ceiling was pealing off from condensation, but not really a big deal.
We didn't eat at the hotel as there are many great places to eat in the city instead.
Use the concierge as he is very helpful in suggesting places to go.
Very comfortable hotel. The location is superior. Walking distance to all the the restaurants, bars and shopping in downtown. Great place for a "big city" vacation. Has nice lap pool and excellent lobby staff.
I found the hotel to be adequate. A pretty typical Marriott with a newer lobby. Service was good. Rooms were on the smaller side, even though we had a corner room. Bathrooms could use an update/ TLC. As everyone mentioned parking is $40 plus $8 in tax. That sucks.
We booked this hotel last minute and received a good deal via priceline. I usually stay at the Loews but decided to go with Marriott, it was a wonderful stay. The Valet attendant greeted us and he was helpful, and funny. Our check in was lightening fast, which was great since we were eager to get settled! And our room was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again!
This was the best place to stay for my conference last week! All of the event were either in the convention center or in the the Marriott. Staying here was very convenient! The room was also very nice. I had a lovely view of city hall and other downtown buildings. The staff including housekeeping we also extremely friendly and helpful. It was also a short cab ride to some of the great restaurants and tourist attractions that the city has to offer. It was also great to go over to the Reading Terminal every morning for a great cup of coffee and various foods. There is also a Starbucks and and Dunkin Doughnuts right downstairs. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is in town for an event in the convention center or for any reason really. One negative is the ridiculous price of parking. I think it was priced at about $40 a night! Crazy! If you can avoid parking your car there I would recommend making other arrangements.
