PROS: Check in was quick and efficient. Lobby is inviting and impressive. The King room was clean and well appointed and the bed super comfy. Staff was extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. Close to excellent restaurants and within walking distance of historical areas, parks, and shopping. Reading Terminal Market and tour busses and shuttles to casino are available within a half block of the hotel. Starbucks in lobby. Hotel security responded to minor issue quickly and courteously. CONS: Housekeeping was a litle disappointing and often not accomplished until late afternoon. Towels were clean and plentiful but had a stale, sour smell. On site restaurant breakfast buffet was pricey with lukewarm eggs and hash browns, although waffle was great; dinner was overly salty and greasy. Internet (both wired and wi fi) was ridiculously overpriced. Does not provide airport shuttle (but bell desk will refer you to Lady Liberty cabs). Neighborhood can be scary after dark. Overall it was a good stay, but go to the market for breakfast if you can wait until after 8am to eat, or go across the street to the Marriott Courtyard restaurant for an excellent breakfast buffet that's also cheaper. Didn't have a chance to try Maggiano's but heard it's good.

I stayed in this hotel for business and it is exactly what you would expect to get for a Marriott Hotel. Some of the things I particularly liked were: 1) Starbucks on the Lobby Level; 2) Location across from Redding Terminal Market; 3) Coffee maker in the room; 4) Great condition, pleasantly decorated; 5) Good Lobby bar; 6) Functional fitness center and lap pool; 7) Lots of electrical outlets for PC, phone, etc. Some other things I noticed: 1) Wireless was not very strong on the higher floors (although connecting with a wire solved that); 2) Paper not at door each day although promised that at check in.
Overall, a good hotel at a good price.

Such a great location! I could walk to the Liberty Bell, Love Statue and the Market is spitting distance from the hotel.

The room itself was insanely comfortable with a plush bed, big tv and fast WiFi. Valet was a huge cost at I think $26/night. My suggestion would be to shuttle from the airport and walk or taxi. Especially if you're not comfortable with driving on one way streets and cars parked in the middle of the lanes (they are spaces, but it takes getting used to).

Very clean, quiet, comfortable, and kind. The bar was also a nice atmosphere with a friendly staff.

I'm glad to hear that others have had positive experiences at this location. I wish we could say the same. Although we were attending for a business convention it was a family trip. Upon our arrival we were told that they overbooked and we would be returned to the airport Marriott. No apologies or offers of compensation (other than the ride back to where we'd just been). We had not been contacted prior to our arrival that we would be put-out. We had contacted that hotel directly the week before and told there would be no problem. We were one of 12 who had been "pre-selected" to be turned away only to learn that there were three empty rooms that night that could've been provided to one of us. The concierge were inconsistent and gave the impression that we were a bother. I suppose the location was convenient but the transit was slow and directions were difficult to follow. Our trip began with a bump and became a very stressful time for all. The staff at the Airport Marriott were amazingly helpful and the downtown Marriott staff could take lessons on customer service.

Hotel has been recently been updated.Rooms are very clean but a bit small.Check in was a breeze.Housekeeping was very friendly had prompt service.Room was always ready before 10:00 am.On the other hand the bellman are very rude and slow.Ihad requested a frig to store meds. After waiting several hours i called to check if one would be brought to my room.Iwas told they thought the bellman had already dropped it off.Again i reminded them it was for med storage. After giving up it was finally brought to my room at midnight.Valet is also a big problem service is very slow to bring cars around and to drop car off again. Some very rude lazy group of men who don't want to work but are quick to stick out thier hand for a tip.I was surprised that no one in hotel could have you a good dinning option away from walking distance.Over all hotel is clean with lots of options to dine on.easy to walk to see sights of city.Bed is not comfortable but over all it is a good stay.

We stayed at the Marriott downtown for the July long weekend. The location was great, with easy access to Chinatown and Reading Terminal. But don't park your car at their parking lot, there are many other less costly alternatives if you are willing to walk a few minutes. This is one of the few Marriotts that I have stayed at recently that do not have complimentary Internet and computer, or even free Wi fi, so I'm not sure how this hotel can be positioned as a "downtown" hotel for business. The room was fine and we did not have any issues with the cleanliness or daily upkeep.
