“A place to relax, renew and reflect”
Reviewed September 14, 2009

A lovely, quaint Inn in Coupeville on Whidbey Island, where stepping into the past is a reality. The rooms are small but delightfull and clean with simple but good quality dressing. The grounds are beautifully kept and lovely walks around them and the lagoon is somewhat relaxing as you listen to birdsong. Definately a place to visit. A visit to the old Coupeville main street is a mustsee with it's many interesting shops and restaurants.

A group of 18 from my ski club spent a wonderful weekend here. The venue was quaint and rustic with flowers and trees and the lagoon rooms were spacious. The large deck was perfect for our BBQ. However, The true charm of the place was the staff. Anything we needed they saw to. No request too small. Everyone had a fabulous time, and the Friday night dinner in the Inn was wonderful.

My husband booked a spur of the moment weekend getaway for us at the place that we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. It hadn't changed too much, it is still a quiet peaceful place to reconnect and relax. I did miss the restaurant, but the new owners are working on getting it up and running, they have spent alot of time on the grounds. It is very beautiful. We enjoyed a small breakfast on the deck, it was heavenly. We will be returning soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Captain Whidbey Inn. The rustic features of the Inn (along with modern day amenities) amidst the incredible scenery, bird songs and views made for a wonderful overnight experience. I just love this place! My room was beautiful with windows throughout and the view spectacular. I highly recommend staying at the Captain Whidbey Inn!

This is a significant historical inn with a perfect waterfront location just minutes from downtown Coupeville by car. We stayed in room number 6, which has an amazing Penn Cove view. The walls are very old round wood planks, so you hear your neighbors quite a bit. We had heater troubles and either froze or baked. The bed was too soft. The bathroom across the hall was fine. Some disposable flip-flops would have been nice, but they did provide robes. Breakfast left much to be desired. They should be serving local bread, preserves, etc. like the local coffee they provide in the rooms. It's great to support inns like this, and I would have been fine with its shortcomings if it had gone the extra mile with things like breakfast.

Unless you're looking to sue a company for safety and health regulations, I wouldn't recommend a trip to the Captain Whidbey Inn. They should be sued for their website giving false advertising....this Inn is NOTHING like what the website shows. First of all, driving up to the Inn, the grounds are a total DUMP, bad landscaping and maintenance!! Then you walk inside and it's dark and gloomy/damp/murky and feels almost haunted. The place is falling apart at every level! The ONE employee working was ruder than rude....very impatient and seemed [-] that we had interupted her solitaire game on the computer!
Our bedding was NOT CLEAN!!! We had HAIR on our pillow (YUCK!!!) so we went to change rooms, only to find we were ALONE in this haunted hotel (SCARY!!!). I felt like I was in a scene from The SHINING....red rum red rum. The wind blew like crazy off of the water and it rained like crazy and the place creaked and howled all night.
Don't waste your time or your money....it's $8 ONE WAY on the ferry!!

A rustic and beautiful old lodge on a beautuful bay; however the service and amenities for the price are poor.
When we checked in no one welcomed us or checked to see if all was well in our room.
We soon discovered that the walls in our Lagoon room were very thin and we could hear every word our neighbours uttered.
When we asked about a place for lunch they did not know of any. .
The next morning when we went to breakfast we were met with a big surprise. Cold packaged cereal, apples, white bread, and mass produced muffins, cut in half, along with ordiinary coffee.
The next morning was no better.
When we checked out no one thanked us for coming, or asked if we had a good stay, or invited us back, or even smiled.
Such potential, yet little care for the client!
