I have been here three times the last month. The views of the ocean and Peninsula are amazing. The fort has several lodges from the military and barracks. There is also beautiful trails and old guns the size of plains that you can walk up and touch.

This park is located above the ferry that takes you to Port Townsend. It is a scenic, open area for walking (dogs love it - leash them). The pre WW1 huge guns and maze of concrete tunnels are interesting. You will need to have a discovery pass or buy a park pass (at a vending machine or at the park office) unless you are camping there. A great place to get some exercise and breath in the fresh coastal air. There are good underground "bunker type" washrooms above the parking area.

More hiking and an excellent history of Naval Defenses and lighthouse keeping in the early 20th century.

Our family goes to Whidbey Is all the time and love it - we actually own some land near Ft Ebey.

We went to Ft Casey on a very rainy mid-week day last summer - no one else was there, no other cars parked in the lot. I opened up the back of our car and our dog jumped out and ran about 100' away to stretch his legs. He immediately came back and we put him on the leash. As we were walking to the big guns and park officer stopped us, asked for ID and treated us like we were criminals - at first I did not know what was going on but eventually I realized it was because our dog had been off the leash for about 45 seconds. We will not be coming back

We spent over two hours wandering around this old fort. Lots to see. The resident deer are not afraid of people, they let you get up very close to take pictures! Take a picnic and spend the better part of your day. You won't be disappointed.
